Varna International Airport is the gateway to this region and allows the visitor quick access to their holiday accommodation and the beaches of the Black Sea. It is the third largest city and something of a summer capital. Burgas is the other main centre, notable for its art gallery, one of the oldest in the country.
Varna Area:
The town itself has plenty to see, with a famous archaeological museum Roman Baths and an Orthodox Cathedral. Families will enjoy the Dolphinarium, Aquarium and Planetarium. Holiday accommodation is often available in up in the hills away from the city.
Burgas and Sunny Beach:
Sunny Beach’s most obvious attraction is 8km of warm golden sand and clean water providing safe family bathing. Fishing is popular, as are walking and riding and the town has a buzzing nightlife too. St Vlas and Nessebar are on the same beach and benefit from their proximity to the action. Don’t ignore the beautiful beaches at Dyuni and Pomorie though.
