Girona, meaning more or less ‘wild coast’, this region has some delightful unspoilt corners and hidden coves, and is an area beloved of painters many of whom have commented on the beauty of the light. Figueras was home to Dali and now houses a museum in his name. Cadaques is a fishing village with steep streets and inviting cellars. Ampurias and Rosas have now expanded to accommodate increased visitor numbers, due, no doubt to the pretty sandy beach.
