This beautifully restored stone cottage offers peaceful luxury accommodation in a rural woodland setting. Ground floor bedroom has 6ft wide 4 poster bed.
Set in 15 acres of woodland and garden grounds, it offers views to the north of Kielder forest and to the west, Hadrian’s Wall. Less than 2 miles from Hadrian’s Wall, Keepers Cottage provides an ideal base should you wish to explore the many places of interest in the area.
The accommodation comprises:
Ground floor bedroom with luxury 6 ft wide 4 poster bed and en-suite bathroom with roll top bath. First floor bedroom with 6 ft wide double bed (can also be arranged as a twin room), also with en-suite bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and separate shower. For guests with young children, we can provide a travel cot, high chair, stair gates and fire guard.
On the ground floor there is also a large sitting room/ dining area and fully equipped kitchen which includes electric oven, integral dishwasher and fridge/freezer, touch button flush ceramic hob and microwave in solid oak units. The sitting room has a wood-burning stove within a stone fireplace. The television with digital freeview and DVD can be enjoyed from the luxury of leather sofas. Fully double glazed, the cottage has oil fired under floor central heating throughout. Electricity, fuel costs and logs are included in the price of your stay, as are the use of quality bedding and towels.
There is ample car parking adjacent to the cottage. The laundry room is fully equipped with two washing machines, tumble dryer, double sink, iron and ironing board and drying facilities. The cottage sits within extensive gardens and grounds, and offers peaceful luxury accommodation in a rural woodland setting
Bonnyrigg Hall is a 100 acre smallholding that is farmed to organic standards. We keep a small flock of rare breed sheep such as shetlands, hebrideans and jacobs. We also keep a small herd of free-range rare breed tamworth pigs. There is also a variety of free-range poultry, guinea fowl, peacocks etc. Visitors are welcome to walk anywhere around the farm.

Keepers Cottage. is within 2 miles of the most spectacular sections of Hadrian's Wall. Take the opportunity to walk some of the new Hadrian's Wall trail and also visit some of the best Roman sites in Britain, such as Housteads Fort, Vindolanda, Birdoswald, Walltown to name a few. We are also within 2 miles of the Penine Way.
We are also less than an hour from both the Lake District to the west, and the city of Newcastle to the East. The Gateshead Metro centre is one of the biggest indoor shopping centres in Europe and is just 35 miles away.
Allen Banks and Staward Gorge
Extensive area of hill and river scenery spectacularly sited above the River Allen. Woodland, rich in wildlife, Victorian wilderness walks with scenic viewpoints and ornamental pond.

Pottery established in 1878. Traditional techniques used to produce unique salt-glazed pottery for the garden and the home. Visitors can see the range of historic buildings and the large coal-fired beehive kiln (probably the last inBritain) and can purchase seconds from the retail area. 5 miles from Keepers Cottage.
Visitors may inspect the remains of the Roman fort and settlement, see its extraordinary finds in the superb museum. Look at daily life and full-scale replicas of Roman buildings. 3 miles from Keepers Cottage
The Alnwick Garden was created by the Duchess of Northumberland and covers over 40 acres. It was opened in October 2002 by its patron HRH The Prince of Wales. The most spectacular feature is the Grand Cascade which is the largest water feature of its kind in the UK. The garden also includes one of the world's largest wooden treehouses.
Rental Notes: All fuel and electricity provided free. All bed linen and towels provided free. Logs for the woodburning stove provided free. From 2008, lettings are generally made from 3pm Friday to 10am the following Friday, however short break bookings may be made, subject to availability.
We also ask for a £100 security deposit to be paid. This is repaid following the holiday assuming there are no breakages etc. We are well away from the crowds in a rural and unspoilt area of the Northumberland National Park. The access to the cottage is via a 1 mile private road.
Note: Keepers Cottage is supplied with natural spring water. All holiday bookings receive a welcome pack which includes a bottle of wine, fresh flowers, candles, milk, tea, coffee, magazines and a selection of toiletries.
