Theoxenia is a comfortable modern villa built on high ground in peaceful surroundings 500ft. above sea level, overlooking olive groves and with spectacular views of the famous 8000ft. White Mountains
The ground floor of the Villa provides two apartments for holiday lets. This apartment ("Kestrel") sleeps four (twin bed and double each with en suite), a comfortable light living area, well equipped kitchen and private patio
Our principal aim is to provide a tranquil atmosphere in which to shed stress. With only two apartments (the other "Robin" sleeps 2) you will find peace and privacy . . you often feel alone here and on many days may have the pool to yourself
Theoxenia stands in its own grounds where you can enjoy relaxing in the garden or by the pool. The pool is in an elevated position overlooking olive groves with mountains beyond. 10m x 4.5m fully tiled with paved area around surrounded by flowers. There is a shady pergola, chairs, tables, sun loungers and barbecue.
Both apartments are well equipped and fitted more as homes rather than "bare bones" holiday lets.
We do not expect our guests to provide their own basic kitchen provisions (washing up liquid, cling film, kitchen foil, salt, pepper, sugar, dish cloths, tea towels, etc. are all provided) and a "welcome pack" awaits new guests for immediate refreshment.
We think we have the best of both worlds here as you can simply laze around the pool, soaking up the silence and scenery and then stroll down to one of the local tavernas, prepare your own meal (or a takeaway) to enjoy by the glow of the underwater pool lighting .. or you can enjoy a day on the beach or explore the island which has so much to be explored. For this most people like to hire a car for at least part of their holiday and we are able to arrange discounted car hire.

Maid Service, House Linen, Towels Provided. Use of telephone is available if requested. Cleaning of the apartment is flexible as far as possible to suit the requirements of our guests. Elec. adaptor and plug-in elec. mosquito repel. supplied
Dining:
Seating for 6. A dining table inside by the window overlooks the garden and pool. The patio table and chairs are sufficient to seat at least four Some prefer to use the barbeque and eat on the pool terrace.
Entertainment:
The view is our tv .. the bird song our radio! However, there are plenty of books
Outside:
Communal Pool, Terrace, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Balcony, Garden Furniture. The pool is common only to two apartments (6 people) All parts of the garden are accessible to guests. There is seating around the garden, the pool and on the balcony.Sun loungers are available.

The drive up to Theoxenia is an incline but would only be a problem to the very infirm.Most people like to hire a car and there is plenty of parking space.
Local activities in and around Georgioupolis, Crete
We will be more than happy to tell you about our favourite quiet and interesting places, many of which do not appear in the guide books. We can direct you to horse riding, scuba diving, water skiing and many walks.
Georgioupolis, originally a fishing village has expanded over the years to accommodate holiday makers who come to enjoy its sandy beaches, relaxed atmosphere and "buzz" on Summer nights. Good tavernas are plentiful, as are quality gift shops and small supermarkets where wine can be bought straight from the barrel.
Georgioupolis can be reached in five minutes by car or a 25 minute walk down hill. For those not wanting to walk back up the hill a taxi can usually be found costing about 5 euros.
We are roughly midway between Chania 35km west and Rethymno 25km east. Both are ancient towns full of interest with smal winding streets, alleyways and, of course, picturesque harbours with tavernas, etc. There is a regular bus service from Georgioupolis to both towns.
Away from the towns there are numerous opportunities for walking. Dozens of small mountain villages to explore and, because of the rugged nature of the country, a different view around every bend.
Both Airports come straight out onto the national road then the only turn you make then is Georgioupolis,we are easy to find after that.Just give us a call.

Rental Notes: Booking weeks run Tuesday to Tuesday to coincide with charter flights into Chania. For other dates, please contact us.
Charter flights also come into Heraklion (2 hours drive) from many UK airports. We can arrange taxi or hire car to meet flights into either airport.
Please note that we live in the upstairs apartment of Theoxenia and, therefore, we are on hand to assist at most times but we do, of course, respect our guests' privacy and don't encroach on 'your' space. We do our best to fit domestic arrangements around your movements (so not to disturb a quiet day or lie-in) but the apartment will be cleaned throughout and linen & towels changed at least once a week.
A washing machine is available for guests' use and there is ample drying area at the back of the house.
