Le Petit Bijou is a two storey, luxury cottage that has been renovated to a high standard to provide bright, pretty and comfortable holiday accommodation for up to four people. On your arrival you will be met by a chilled bottle of local wine, fresh bread, milk coffee and other goodies to start your holiday.
The Dining room with lovely old tuffeau fireplace and wood burning stove, has a table and chairs for eating and for relaxing. There is a television with satellite TV - video player with a library of videos - DVD player with a few Dvds (please ask) and a good selection of books for holiday reading. The accommodation also has a stereo for listening to your music.
We also have a Lake of 2000sq metres for fishing if you would like to use it.
If you are looking to buy a house in France the area of the loire, I can intruduce you to English speaking French estate agents who we have used and personally recommend.
The accommodation of this cottage comprises a cozy lounge with overhead fan to keep you cool. Dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, and 2 first floor bedrooms, then we have a large luxury bathroom on the ground floor. The kitchen has gas hob, electric oven - fridge, dishwasher, microwave, coffee filter, kettle, toaster etc.
The double bedroom (Family) with unusual cast iron double sleigh bed, this room also has a small Childs cot bed size settee, a good size wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table. The bedrooms are provided with king size/single duvets, and English style pillows, (sheets are also provided at an additional cost), and the next bedroom has two single beds. Will sleep five e.g. four adults small child.
Mouliherne is situated in the beautiful Loire Valley approximately 20 minutes north of Saumur. The property is set in the courtyard of the owners property on the edge of the village which is surrounded by fields, and of course the apple orchards. Very close-by is a large lake suitable for fishing, and picnicking - woodlands and quiet country roads.
The Capital - Angers: Angers is the capital of the ancient wine-producing county of Anjou, set in the rolling countryside of the Loire. This pretty, very friendly town is filled with great value cafés and restaurants and an impressive château - perfect for a last-minute getaway.
Greatest reason to visit is to feast your eyes on two stunning tapestries, the fourteenth century Apocalypse and the 20th century Chant du Monde. But if needlework leaves you cold, head straight out of the castle to the Maison du Vin de l’Anjou, for an enjoyable sampling of the great local wines or stroll along one of its beautiful promenades or parks.

1 Twin Bedroom, 1 Family Bedroom. Bedroom has an unusual double sleigh cast iron bed with a settee good size chest of drawers and antique dressing table with chair. Hairdryer provided.

1 Bathroom. The large luxury white fully tiled bathroom with large shower cubicle big enough for two, W.C, & Antique French Vanity unit approx 1890c with solid marble top and mirror over, bought from a chateaux.

Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Iron. The kitchen has gas hob, electric oven - fridge, microwave, dishwasher, coffee filter, kettle, toaster etc. All the luxurys you would expect from home.
General:
Real Fire, Central Heating, Maid Service. Electric central heating with heated towel rail in the bathroom.
Tuffeau fireplace/wood burning stove.
We can provide a cleaning service at an additional cost please ask for details when booking.
Dining:
Seating for 6. In the dining room you will find a antique farmhouse oak table and comfortable chairs, Also a outside table under eatery.
Entertainment:
Satellite TV, DVD, Board Games. There is a good selection of videos and books also a small selection of board games.
Outside:
Terrace, BBQ, Parking, Garden Furniture. The property is set in the private courtyard of the owner’s property on the edge of the village.
Outside you have a small covered terrace area for dining and enjoying a glass of wine - Al Fresco!

Local activities in and around Mouliherne, Charente/Vendee/W. Loire
The Loire Region is steeped in history having abbeys, medieval churches, and cathedrals.
The Impressive town of Saumur, 20 minutes away, offering river views as you drive in and a magnificent fairytale château set high on the banks of the Loire river. It is the home of the National Riding School and the French Cavalry links below are provided. Saumur has plenty of boutiques, restaurants, theatres, bars and historic buildings; you can taste the native sparkling wine, and visit the superb market every Saturday morning.
Visit the mushroom museum, or troglodyte caves. There is a zoo at Doue la Fontaine, the centre of the rose growing area, a small but wonderful zoo that has the proud reputation for successfully rearing more babies from endangered species than any other zoo in the world.
The river, lakes and forests accommodate those with outdoor interests. There is a wide range of water sports such as fishing, sailing, canoeing or swimming. There are also plenty of paths for cycling, walking and horse riding again links provided below.
On the north bank of the wonderful river Loire - the longest and only remaining Natural River in France. The river and its sandbanks provide a perfect environment for an array of wildlife and fish. The area is a nature lover’s paradise; a casual glance around and you could see herons, egrets, cormorants, gulls, terns, lapwing, and many small wading birds, as well as coypus, wild boar and deer.
There are first class golf courses in the area.
There are numerous local markets to be found and exclusive shops and haunts in Tours and Angers and of course, Paris is less than an hour away on the TGV from Le Mans.
Swimming pools can be found at Longué and Saumur local lakes for fishing and a small sandy beach for bathing at Mouliherne, Rill and Les Loges.

La Landelle lies between Baugé and Saumur at the crossroads of the forests of Chandelais and Monnaie. Here horse lovers, whether beginners or experienced riders, can go for rides in small groups.
There are also one or two-day rides which will allow you to discover the country side around Baugé and the Loire Valley.
The Equestrian Center is open every week end and also during the week by appointment. We guarantee you a complete change of scenery in relaxing and secure surroundings.
The Loire region is dotted with castles along the rivers, and it's no wonder, since the French and the English had a major tug of war over who controlled these lands, culminating in the Hundred Years' War. Here Joan of Arc lifted the seige of Orleans, the kings of France made their royal residences, and, oddly enough, Leonardo da Vinci spent his last years and was buried in Amboise. There's so much to see, kids will become castle experts from their visit to the Loire.
Saumur
In Saumur, wine makers build caves in the chalky soil so that wine can rest in stable condition. If you visit the area, we recommend you visit one of these caves (called "tuffeau" in french).
Wine makers produce red, dry white and sparkling white and rosé wines.

Rental Notes: The Cottage is self catering and available for long or short term lets and we are happy to discuss on a nightly basis if required.
Linen and towels are provided at an extra cost please arrange this at the time of Booking. There is an extra payment of 45.00 euros required after your stay.
Changeover day is a Saturday but we are happy if possible to work with other arrangements please ask.
We are happy to provide a cleaning service either daily or weekly you choose again this is an extra cost to you, and must be agreed at the time of booking.
We are sorry but we have a strictly no smoking policy in the cottage.
Christmas and Easter bookings - please ask as price varies (We provide you with a turkey and a bottle of champagne at Christmas).
Travel cot and high chair can be provided for a small charge. (we do not provide linen for the cot).
