Hawthorn cottage is a stone, self catering holiday cottage in the farm steading of Scotchcoulthard near Hadrian's Wall, Northumberland.
It is one of five holiday cottages with acres of land, an indoor swimminig pool, real fire and dogs welcome.
Scotchcoulthard lies 4 miles north of Hadrian's Wall at its highest point half way between Newcastle and Carlisle.
It is located in the beautiful and unspoilt Northumbrian National Park and has 180 acres of upland which our guests are free to roam.
Scotchcoulthard is run as a holiday cottage business with 5 cottages sleeping from 1 to 7 and is also a small farm.
We have Rare Breed animals including pigs, sheep and hens. We welcome pets and children and there is plenty of space for the children to play. We have a games room with table tennis and toys and an indoor, heated swimming pool. The cottage is fully equipped.
Hawthorn Cottage has a farmhouse style kitchen with handmade terracota floor tiles and a period glass fronted china cabinet and pine table. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a four ring gas cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge freezer. The living room is opposite the kitchen with a beamed ceiling, an open fire to compliment the central heating. There is t.v., d.v.d and digital box.
There are two bedrooms, a double and a twin each with its own bathroom. Both baths have a shower over. The twin room has an addtional bed on a gallery over the stairwell and is suitable for an older child or an adventurous adult.

Communal Pool, Terrace, Garden, Parking, Garden Furniture. The cottage overlooks a large lawned area suitable for ball games. The pool is indoor and heated throughout the year. At times in the winter it may be switched off.

Local activities in and around Haltwhistle, North
Walking on Hadrian's Wall. The Lake District is one hour away as is the glorious Northumbrian Coast. Gretna Green in Scotland is 30 miles away. Newcastle City Centre with attractions The Sage and Millenium Bridge on the quay side is under an hour.

Rental Notes: We welcome short breaks and can cope with parties of up to 20. One of the cottages (High Tipalt) can seat up to 12, and we have a games room that is available for larger parties and can be used for dancing etc.
We normally run Saturday to Saturday but are flexible.
Arrival and departure times are 4.00pm and 10.00am but again are flexible. All linen. towels, heating & lighting, coal/ logs and use of the swimming pool are included in the price.
