Cobblestone Cottage, Appledore 4* - Beautifully restored cottage in pretty village
Cottage with 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 3
A beautifully restored and refurbished listed cottage dating from the early 1800s, which was originally - together with the neighbouring cottage - a fruit and vegetable shop and then latterly for the past 10 years, a delightful and very popular tea-room. Appledore is a charming ancient Kentish village with some old character buildings still remaining, 2 good village pubs serving food, a general store, antique shop with tea-room and in a superb area for touring the borders of Kent & East Sussex, the famous Romney Marsh with its ancient churches and a short distance from the coast - 6 miles to the delightful ancient Cinque Port Town of Rye.
The cottage has gravel off-street parking directly in front with seating and gravel area to catch the evening sun. Cream carpeting and stripped pine doors and woodwork throughout all conspire to maintain the character of this charming holiday home.
Entrance is directly into the bright and comfortable lounge which has pale lemon sofa, wicker rocking chair, colour TV/video/DVD, coffee tables, modern lighting plus a wonderful woodburning stove ( 1st basket of logs provided) for those cosy autumn or winter evenings.
To the rear of the cottage is the really charming kitchen with beamed ceiling, tiled floors, pine dressers with pretty china, Belfast sink, solid wood worktops, range of beech wall and floor cupboards, electric oven & hob, microwave, large fridge/freezer and automatic washer/dryer plus table and chairs.
Off the kitchen is the downstairs cloakroom with cupboard, WC, compact washbasin and heated towel rail. The rear kitchen door leads out onto the very attractively presented enclosed and secluded patio/terrace with several pots of flowers, barbecue, garden table, chairs and umbrella.
Cottage style stairs lead up the centre of the property leading to the 2 bedrooms and family bathroom. To the front is the bright master bedroom with bay window, double bed with bedside tables and lamps, wardrobe and chest of drawers. To the rear is pretty single bedroom with clothes/airing cupboard, bedside table with lamps plus the brand new family bathroom with white suite, bath with shower over, WC and washbasin.
This area is perfect for walking and cycling with abundant designated easy walks and gentle cycle routes - some taking in a pub stop. The Saxon Shore Way runs along this wonderful coastline and there is a wealth of wildlife to observe along the miles of Canal walkways.
