Local activities in and around Laroque Des Alberes, Languedoc-Roussillon
It is approximately one mile from the ancient village of Laroque Des Alberes where The Domaine des Alberes is situated in Languedoc-Rousillon, a hot dry area of southwest France where the sun shines approximately 300 days a year. It is 6 miles (15 minutes) from the coast where there are long sandy beaches and has stunning views of the snow-capped Pyrenees Mountains.
There are historic sites and towns nearby and it is approximately an hour and a half from some French ski resorts. A 36 hole champion golf course in St Cyprien.You may prefer to visit some of the medieval villages, such as the walled village of Villefranche Conflent. From here you can take the Little Yellow Train into the Pyrenees mountains. For children there are the beaches, holiday clubs, water sports, zoos and Aquasplash at Canet Plage.
Skiing and mountain walking - The Pyrennean ski resorts of Pyrenees 2000, Font Romeau, and Les Angles can be reached within about 1 1/2 driving or you can take a train from Perpignan, changing to the picturesque 'petit train juane' at the fortified medieval town of Villefranche De Conflent and travelling onward to a choice of mountain ski villages. The area boasts a total of 92 km of prepared piste.
There is a small market in Laroque on Wednesday mornings but a visit to the market at Ceret on Saturday mornings is recommended. Sunday mornings there is a market in Colliure and nearby Argeles-sur-Mer have daily markets. Picasso's Ceret, and Dali's Figueras can each be reached within an easy 10 and 35 minute drive, although you may prefer to visit the delightful fishing village of Collioure the most painted place in Europe.
South of Collioure you come to Banyuls sur Mer where you can take the coast road into Spain for lunch. If you enjoy playing golf there are courses at St.Cyprien and two excellent courses approximately less than an hour's drive away. They are Torremirona and Peralada all hosted the european PGA - See links below -
Rental Notes: On booking you are asked to send a 20% deposit, with the balance payable, 8 weeks before the booking commences. A security deposit of £150 will be required before arrival and will be returned within 2weeks after the end of your holiday if there have been no breakages. You will be given the name of a caretaker who you can contact if you have any problems.
Change over days are usually Saturday to Saturday in peak season.
