Barn House is an attractive self catering cottage located in the centre of the Lake District village of Braithwaite, two miles from the picturesque market town of Keswick on Derwentwater. If you are a keen walker we have some of the easiest walks to the most challenging walks right from the doorstep. The property has an open log fire for those cold winter evenings and also the added benefit of gas central heating. All bedrooms have been decorated to a high standard and are furnished with pine furniture. The kitchen again has all mod cons and is a very spacious dining area.

The property consists of three bedrooms (two doubles and one twin), a bathroom with seperate bath and power shower, wc and basin. Downstairs there is a large lounge with an open log fire , TV/DVD and CD player, with a seperate dining area, The kitchen is equipped with all todays requirements, dishwasher /washer/dryer and microwave , fridge/freezer utility area. The cottage has a patio with outside seating There is private parking for 2 cars
The lounge features many of the old barns characteristics, from oak beams to the stone open fireplace . There is a formal dining area, spacious kitchen and three good sized bedrooms - two doubles and a twin room - comfortably sleeping from two to six people. The cottage has a patio with outside seating and comes complete with parking.
Braithwaite is a beautiful, peaceful village overlooked by the Coledale Horseshoe, an impressive semicircle of Lakeland fells which is a famous walking route. Braithwaite has a village shop and three pubs providing home cooked meals and Cumbrian ales.
The historical town of Keswick is close by which has a wide selection of shops, restaurants, cafes, museums and galleries. There is also the famous Theatre by the Lake and the lake itself, Derwentwater. Derwentwater isn't the only nearby lake - Bassenthwaite Lake is only 4 miles away and a short (and stunning!) drive through Newlands Valley and over Newlands Pass takes you Buttermere and Crummock water.

Local activities in and around Keswick, North
The village of Braithwaite has the best of both worlds - a quiet, safe, interesting village only two miles from the hussle and bussle of the town. The area is a haven for walkers and Braithwaite is overlooked by the stunning Coledale Horseshoe - a mangnificent walk with amazing views
Another historical Cumbrian town is Cockermouth, only twelve miles West of Braithwaite. Birthplace of the poet Wordsworth, Cockermouth is also home to the famous Jennings Brewery (where tours are available!)
Driving over Whinlatter Pass takes you to Lorton Valley, a stunning area which leads you to Crummock water, Loweswater and Buttermere (and even the West Coast of Cumbria). From Buttermere you can head either over Newlands Pass into Newlands valley or Honister Pass into Borrowdale valley, both which have tremendous views.
Other nearby recreational interests include the Keswick Golf Club (6 miles) and sailing on Derwentwater or Bassenthwaite (3 miles).
