Nestled on an Ardeche hillside, our 200 year old stone farmhouse is surrounded by cherry and apricot orchards.
The property is in over 25 acres of fields, orchards and woodland. Views from the gite stretch to the mountains of the Vercours and overlook the vineyards of the Ardeche and Cotes du Rhone region of the South East.
Although private and remote, Le Vitrier is only 5 kilometers from the busy riverside market town of Tournon sur Rhone.
The town has shops, cinema, restaurants, chateau museum and year round family entertainment. It is also located close to all major links to the wider regions of the south of France, with excellent rail and road links.
The area is great for adventure seekers, cultural persuits and superb walking is available directly from the door. Adults and children are well catered for in this region of the Ardeche.

Le Vitrier offers a comfortable and well presented holiday home on two levels in the upper wing of the farmhouse, with it's own private entrance and garden area. The lounge is a spacious room overlooking the mountains with beamed chateau ceiling and open fireplace.
The bedrooms are comfortable and tastefully furnished with family bathroom next door. The dining kitchen is fully equipped and newly fitted with all essential cooking and dining equipment and utensils. There is a BBQ in the private garden, adjacent to a cherry orchard, outdoor dining table and seating area, all easily accessed from the kitchen.
All bedding, bath and tea towels are provided and rooms are equipped with electric fans for cooling down in the hot spring and summer months. The gite is also fully centrally heated for the winter months, when walking and skiing are particularly popular persuits.

1 Double Bedroom, 1 Twin Bedroom. The bedrooms are comfortably furnished with adequate storage space for holiday belongings. An extra bed can be added to a bedroom or the lounge if a 5th person is in the party.

1 Bathroom. There is a spacious bathroom with wc, wash basin, bath and shower over. A washing machine is plumbed in for guests use.
Kitchen:
Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Dishwasher, Iron. The kitchen is newly fitted with quality equipment and a large fridge.
General:
Real Fire, Central Heating, House Linen, Towels Provided. A washing machine is plumbed-in in the bathroom. Fire wood is included in the winter tariffs. Additional winter charge for heating. Secure storage available for bicycles and other large items.
Dining:
Seating for 6. There is an extremely well equipped dining kitchen and breakfast in the garden is particularly enjoyable. are endless, local restaurants, moulins and 4 Michellin starred eateries easily reached.
Entertainment:
Terrestrial TV, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games. There is a dvd player in the lounge for those wishing to brind their own discs. Also a video shop in Tournon happy to lend to guests. Local tennis courts and outdoor swimming pools are nearby.
Outside:
Garden, BBQ, Parking, Balcony, Garden Furniture. There is ample outside space for relaxing and space in the grounds for short or long woodland walks. Lovely quiet local river beaches can be discovered for picnick lunches and afternoon lounging.

Local activities in and around Tournon sur Rhone, Rhone Alps
The list of activities in this area is extensive.
*You can choose to visit small hill villages;
*Take a trip on the local steam train into the wild and beautiful Gorges du Doux.
*Take one of the many routes du vins for tasting and buying.
*Visit larger towns of Valence, Roman sur Isere, Vienne, Montellimar or even the historic city of Lyon.
*Swimming in the river Doux and the Isere are also popular as is visiting local caveaux for wine tasting (and buying).
*Cycling is a national obsession and cylce hire can be found in Tournon.
*River trips on the Rhone are available during summer months.
*Horse riding is locally available and of course walking.
*The farm is situated on the Grande Randone 42 and there are a number of local walks to challenge the most experienced walkers and families alike.
*Visist local markets, 2 a week in Tournon and also in the surrounding villages, always a good way to stock up on local produce for dinner.
*Days out can include a trip to the Popes Palace in Avignon, just an hour and 20 minutes away by car or why not take the train for hassle free travel. Or visit the lovely Roman City of Orange.

Of course we hope you will also make time to relax in the garden and enjoy the peaceful surroundings that le vitrier has to offer. Early June is Cherry season and the weather is usually warm and sunny from April onwards. Winters at le vitrier are generally also sunny and crisp and a good time to mix a holiday of skiing with walking.

Rental Notes: Le Vitrier is a non smoking gite. Changeover days are Saturday in the high season, but shorter periods can be arranged depending of availability.
Final cleaning is included in the rental, however, we will levy a cleaning charge if the accommodation is left in a particulary unclean condition. We ask guests to respect their surroundings.
