A stunning brand new four star self catering chalet set in the charming Alpine town of Valberg, just 80kms from Nice and 500m from the ski slopes! With four stars (the top french rating) and sleeping up to 11 people, it's an opportunity too good to miss.
For large parties of up to 15, the chalet can be hired in conjunction with our studio grand fromage. Access from one to the other is internal. Studio grand fromage is also available as a separate self contained property.

The brand new Chalet Grand Fromage was built using the finest French and Canadian talents and nestles close to the centre of Valberg at a height of 1650m. Valberg lies 80kms inland from Nice and is little more than an hour from the airport. This unspoilt tranquil region of France caters for both winter and summer sports. In the winter there are 52 available ski runs with snow cover ensured by 350 snow canons. In the summer all manner of activities can be catered for including cyling, hiking, swimming, kayaking, angling, rock climbing, eva, quad biking, luge, golf, pony trekking and white water rafting. In fact, there's never a quiet moment, unless you want one!
Nearby is the National Park du Mercantour - a naturalists and hikers dream. Although you can fly into Valberg, for most people the entry into the town will be through one of the stunning gorges - The Gorges du Cians or The Gorges du Daluis. Although only 500m from the centre of Valberg, the chalet sits on private land along a quiet road, with its own drive and ample parking for several cars.
Inside there are two floors - A large open plan main floor and an upper floor containing bedrooms and a bathroom. The main floor hallway leads to a fully fitted kitchen and then to a linked lounge / dining room area. This leads through two sets of sliding doors to a large balcony up to 4 metres deep with uninterupted, southward facing, panoramic views of over twenty miles. This floor also contains a bathroom with a shower and toilet. There is also an additional wc in an adjacent room. The stairwell sits at the base of a 5 metre vaulted ceiling. Upstairs, the landing leads to three bedrooms, each with a vaulted ceiling, a balcony and fully fitted wardrobes. This floor also has a bathroom, containing a bath, wc and bidet.

The 2007/8 winter sports season has now finished . New for this season is the "Valberg Liberty" hands-free lift pass.
A new piste with a 520m vertical fall has been constructed from the Dreccia down into the Barzes area.
In the winter this is a popular resort for skiers and snowboarders. Some come for a week, others come from the coast just for the day. There are 52 runs covering all abilities. ESF Lessons are available for novices and a snow park for the daring! Snow cover is always ensured by the 350 snow cannons. During the 2005/6 winter sports season over 2,000,000 journeys were made on the Valberg ski lifts. Nordic style skiing routes are available. Ice climbing is sometimes possible and when its' really cold ice-karting and ice-skating are always possible.
In the summer there are all manner of activities. For the restless there is cyling, hiking, swimming, eva, the luge, quad biking, white water rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, angling, golf and pony trekking. For the adventurous there is Mount Mounier and the GR5 to tackle. For the naturalist there is the National Park du Mercantour. Being close to the centre of the park, Valberg is the location of the main visitor centre. For those who wish to relax, there are bars and restaurants. More recently a Cinema has been built and this shows films both in English and French. If that is not enough, close by are the stunning gorges of Cians and Daluis. There is the Citadel at Entrevaux. The Local villages of Beuil, Peone, Guillames and Puget Theniers are well worth exploring. Further afield there is the highest road pass in all the Alps at the Cime de la Bonette (2802m ). There is also a golf course at Isola. If you want to get away for a day and see the coast then Monaco, Nice, Antibes and Cannes are less than a couple of hours away. Dignes les Bains is a similar distance to the north.
