Pure escapism. Set in over 1 acre of wooded garden, backing onto Forestry Commission Woodland. BBC series Monarch of the Glen was filmed in the immediate vicinity. The property is situated in the quiet hamlet of Drumguish, up in the hills three miles from Kingussie (capital of Badenoch). Your journey to the house will take you past the remains of Ruthven Barracks, and over a stone bridge spanning the picturesque River Tromie.
An ideal base for exploring the many castles and historic monuments in the vicinity. Distilleries listed on the famous Whisky Trail are easily accesible. Nearby Kingussie has the River Spey running through it, and boasts a challenging a challenging golf course, with many others nearby.
The porch which gives the property its name is a large airy space with wonderful panoramic views. Lots of storage and a comfy chair from which to view the mountains in the distance and the birdlife close up. Carpeted and double glazed throughout. The house is heated by modern storage radiators and an open fire, ensuring a high degree of comfort what ever the weather.
Abundant wildlife, red squirrels, rabbits and if you get up early enough roe deer in the garden! Delightful walks for all ages and abilities. Wonderful feeling of isolation, yet all amenities nearby.

Real Fire, Central Heating, House Linen, Towels Provided. Additional cleaning or babysitting can be arranged. Guest book available (full of many positive comments). Tourist information brochures and restaurant recommendations available.

Seating for 6. Large extendable dining table at far end of living/dining area overlooking the woods.

Terrestrial TV, Video, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games. DVD player, an abundance of books (adult and children's). Varied selection of CDs. Maps and walkers guides, bird feeders, binoculars and bird identification books.

Local activities in and around Kingussie, Highlands & Islands
Insh Marsh RSPB Reserve only 1 mile away. Boat of Garten RSPB Reserve where the osprey nest 12 miles away. Water sports (windsurfing sailing canoeing etc) at nearby Kincraig, where they also run instruction courses for children and adults in high season. Horse riding for all ability levels nearby.
Clay pigeon shooting and dog sledding plus many other activities on Rothermurchius Estate (12 miles). Salmon and trout fishing available, also Go karting and cross country quad biking. Scenic walks for all abilities, and bikes can be hired in the village. New swimming/health complex at Aviemore.
Ideal base for famous Whisky Trail, with nearest distillery Dahlwinnie open to visitors. Dolphin watching available on the Black Isle just outside Inverness. Taste of Scotland Award-winning restaurant in Kingussie. For children in particular, Highland Wildlife Park (3 miles), Landmark Outside Adventure Park (12 miles).
The Cairngorm Reindeer Centre
Feed the reindeer on the hillside, in the company of an experienced ranger.
Leave A9 to Inverness at Kingussie and follow B970 for 3 miles past Ruthven barracks, and over Tromie bridge. Turning up through woods to Drumguish. Full details sent with balance payment.
