Tarn Outdoor Centre is a unique barn conversion in a traditional Cumbrian hill farm setting. Magnificent views over the Uldale valley, Cautley Spout, Wild Boar Fell and the Howgills, make the centre an idyllic base for walkers and a peaceful, rural retreat for those wanting to get away from it all.
It is great venue for any group: family get togethers, walking groups, youth groups, church groups, special interest groups, clubs, joint family holidays, group weekends/holidays and parties/celebrations. The farmstead dates back to the 17th Century and the barn has been recently extended and converted to an exceptional standard whilst maintaining original features and character.

The kitchen, dining room and lounge are set out in the original first floor of the barn. The character of the barn is maintained with exposed beams, stonework and rustic oak floors. Very well equipped kitchen with range cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave and all cooking utensils and equipment. Dining area with oak tables and benches, open plan to the lounge area which is an area to relax and unwind in with comfortable chairs and magnificent views.
Bedrooms: there are 4bedrooms sleeping 2 people in each (one single over double bunk bed in each room so that they can be used as a double or a twin). There are 2 dormitories sleeping 8 people in each (4 bunk beds).
Washrooms: high standard modern facilities. There are 4 male washrooms and 4 female washrooms, comprising of shower, wc and washbasin in each.
There is a drying room, essential for drying out wet boots and clothes.
Location and Local Facilities
Tarn Outdoor Centre is located in South Cumbria Fells (The Howgills), between the Market towns of Kirkby Stephen (7miles to the North) and Sedbergh (5 miles to the South), on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The Centre is in a unique position situated on a hillside with views of the Uldale Valley to the East, Cautley Spout to the South West, Baugh Fell to the South and Wild Boar Fell to the North East.
It is in an idyllic location to explore the vast amount of hills and valleys in this beautiful, unspoilt and little discovered area.
The Centre is on the boundary of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Lake District National Park with its wealth of mountain and lakeland scenery is also within easy driving distance (30-45 minutes).
