Les Tilleuls is a lovely family home situated in a large private garden covering 2 acres of grounds that has large gates to ensure children's safety.
Recently re-decorated, the house has spacious rooms that can be kept cool in summer by closing the shutters or can be kept warm with the log fires in winter. The 14m x 6.5m heated pool (which is 2 metres deep at its deepest) is surrounded by a large patio area with mature palm trees. The pool is floodlit at night and provides an idyllic location for alfresco dining or a late night swim. There is a built in barbecue on the patio and plenty of seating and tables.
The doors from both the living room and the kitchen lead onto the terrace which stretches almost the width of the house and which overlooks the gardens. On the east side of the house is the swimming pool area which is situated, conveniently, very close to the house, and which tends to be the focal point of the holiday for guests, both during the day and in the evening.
The surrounding region is of gently rolling countryside, with beautiful lakes and forested areas. The medieval village of Vouvent, recently voted the most beautiful village in France, is 11 km away and is a must for dining out.
Only an hour’s drive from Poitiers (home of Futuroscope) and the impressive coastal towns of La Rochelle and Sables d’Olonne, the setting for this impressive property is perfect for a secluded holiday.
Within easy distance are golf courses, lakeside beaches, sailing, fishing and horse riding. Many of the nearby villages have their own summer fetes and market days along with excellent, good-value cuisine that typifies rural France.
The area is rich in history and boasts the second sunniest climate in France with as many hours of sunshine as the Mediterranian coast.

There are two patios - one to the front and one poolside which are both ideal for alfresco dining for up to 16 people.

The pool is deep at one end for diving and is floodlit at night. The barbecue is by the pool and there are dining tables.

Particulary good for parties with children as the pool is safely fenced and gated and the gardens are safe and enclosed.
Local activities in and around Fontenay Le Comte, Charente/Vendee/W. Loire
The surroundings are ideal for cycling and gentle walks. Only 15 minutes away is the Vouvent-Mervent Forest where all kinds of water based activities can be pursued as can mountain biking. Cycle hire is available.
Historically the area has much to offer and a visit to the mediaeval churches in the area is highly recommended.
Sables d' Olonne is a 45 minute drive and here are huge expanses of golden beaches and safe bathing. La Rochelle is 40 minutes drive and offer excellent shopping and museums.
Futuroscope is only a one hour drive away and therefore easily visited in a day.
There are so many lovely restaurants in the area that it is hard to recommend any particular one. We suggest that you explore the villages and sample some of the good cuisine which typifies rural France.

Additional charges over and above the rental are:
Electricity - £100 per week - included in July and August Pool heating in Mid season - £150 per week. There is no pool charge in the High Season and the pool is not available during the Low season.
