La Ville au Tady stands in over 1 acre of gardens. It is a traditional Breton long-house, or longere, that has been fully renovated while retaining its charm and character. Located in a small hamlet in Southern Brittany, the local village of Guegon is just a few minutes drive or a pleasant cycle ride through scenic country lanes. Within the village you will find several bars, a general store and the essential boulangerie for daily fresh bread.
The property stands in over one acre of fenced garden. There are several fruit trees, walnut and a sweet chestnut to provide welcome shade in the summer months. If holidaying in the autumn, you are welcome to help yourselves to any windfall. There is parking for two cars on a drive at the front. The rear of the cottage affords pleasant views over the garden and countryside beyond. A gravel patio at the rear provides a table and seating for six for meals and barbecues. A mown path through the grass to the left of the garden leads to another informal seating area with West facing views over fields and rolling countryside - ideal for sunsets. A charcoal barbecue and garden furniture are provided.
The area is perfect for exploring on foot or cycling, with a designated cycle route passing through the hamlet. The medieval town of Josselin with its famous chateau, 17th Century buildings, bars and restaurants is an easy 10 minute drive. Brittany’s largest inland lake is located just outside Josselin, with swimming and water sport facilities. Superb beaches are to be found all along the nearby Morbihan coast which is said to have 365 small Islands, one to explore for each day of the year.

First floor: family bathroom with over bath thermostatic shower, toilet and twin vanity basins.

Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Iron. The kitchen is generously equipped with everything you will need for a comfortable stay including coffee maker, kettle, blender, whisk, and all crockery glassware and utensils for up to 8 persons.

Real Fire, Central Heating, Telephone, Internet Access. The old original inglenook fireplace is retained with a wood burning stove. The original oak beams frame the roof of the lounge. A Separate family lounge contains a TV/DVD.

Seating for 8. Oak dining table and chairs seating up to 8 located in large Lounge, providing the perfect setting for a candlelit dinner, with a log fire off-season. Breakfast table in kitchen seats 4.

Local activities in and around Josselin, Brittany
The nearest village, Guegon, is just a 5 minute drive and contains a variety of local shops & facilities (bars, general store, boulangerie-patisserie, retaurant, doctors, pharmacy, boules court, picnic area, tennis courts).
The nearest town is Josselin (10 mins) which has two large supermarkets and a selection of shops, fine restaurants and pavement cafes in its medieval streets. The Chateau is open for tours and overlooks the banks of the River Oust from where you can take boat trips.
There are local open air swimming pools in the summer season at Serent and Plumelec. Nearby in Ploermel is the Dukes Lake, the largest lake in Brittany. You can undertake a wide range of activites in and around the lake such as swimming from a man made beach, golf, walking, cycling, and a wide variety of water sports.
There are many interesting small villages and larger towns in the region. Auray is a lovely old town with lots of shops and restaurants, an old port and an excellent Sunday market. Vannes is a large town on the edge of the Gulf of Morbihan with an old quarter bustling with good restaurants and small shops. Excellent markets are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays and a famous jazz festival in July. Carnac is an ancient and historic place with over 3,000 prehistoric megalithic stones.
There is a huge choice of fine sandy beaches within day-trip driving distance (45 mins), where you can enjoy swimming, sand yachting, waterskiing, windsurfing, sailing or body surfing. Some of the most popular beaches are at Carnac, La Trinite Sur Mer, Lamor Plage, and the Quiberon peninsular.
We provide 2 adult mountain bikes, and 2 child's bikes (child seat and 'ride-a-long' also available). Use our bikes or bring your own to explore the quiet traffic free lanes and countryside roads, or the Nantes-Brest canal cycle path.

Rental Notes: Price is all-inclusive of electric, gas, logs, cleaning. Bookings spanning charging seasons will be charged pro-rata. Special rates for short breaks off-peak (min. stay 3 nights). The right hand side of the longere consists of a family lounge with small sofa bed. Stairs lead up to bedroom 3. This part of the property is only accessed at ground floor level and is ideal for a sharing family/parents/guests.
The longere is cleaned in between bookings. We supply duvets and pillows, but please bring your own sheets, duvet covers, towels, tea-towels. Please contact us to ensure that your preferred dates are still available. A 25% deposit is required within 7 days to confirm your booking. Full payment with a £100 security deposit will be required 6 weeks prior to the holiday. The normal changeover day is Saturday when departing guests should leave by 10am and new guests should arrive after 4pm. Off season breaks are flexible for both changeover day and length of stay.
