Cottage with 3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6, Garden, Swimming Pool
Ty Griffett is our own luxury longuere that sleeps 6/8 people, which we let out for a few weeks a year when not in use by ourselves, so no sharing share facilities with others. In a very quiet rural setting, rolling hills, birds twittering, no traffic, a fantastic place to unwind and leave all your stresses behind. The longuere has an acre of garden, a bbq and large seating area for alfresco dinning, and a pool for lounging around with a cool Pimms or French wine.
There are shops, restaurants and bars all within 5Kms. Pontivy is the nearest town and with the river Blavet the old quarter, timber houses and cobbled streets, the Chateau and good restaurants, Pontivy is a small town worth visiting. The closest coast is around Vannes a 40 min drive away. Carnac just along the coast with it's long sandy beaches as well as the famous standing stones is well worth a visit. Trinite sur mer, has the most wonderful fresh fish restaurants all along the harbor front.
Ty Griffett, has been converted into a large airy double height living area, (the photos do not do this place justice) which is very comfortable with 2 large settees and a snuggly chair and for chilly evenings a huge wood burning stove. The dining area has a large oak table and benches that can easily seat 10 people.
The kitchen is large and very well appointed, with range type cooker, a microwave/oven/grill, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer. On the mezzanine there is satelite TV, Playstation II(bring your own games), also plays DVDs (there is a selection of over 200 to choose from), wireless internet access so bring your laptop. There is an other settee and also a day bed that can be used as two single beds which might be suitable for youngsters to sleep on.
The original house has been converted into stunning bedrooms. Two downstairs, one with two very comfortable single beds, the other with a beautiful antique French double bed. Also on the ground floor is the large family bathroom this has a bath with shower over. Upstairs is the amazing main bedroom with a large double bed, a settee, a peaceful place to get away from the rest of the world. This room has its own en-suite shower room. The staircases to the master bedroom and to the mezzanine are rustic open tread wooden stairs.
Pontivy with the beautiful Blavet river is the closest larger town, with its market on Monday it is possible to stock up on everything. There is so much to do in the area it is impossible to list it all. Horse riding, canoe and bike hire, fishing, walking in the woods, along the quiet lanes, the canal or the river. Wonderful old towns, Dinard, Vannes, Moncontour, with timber frame houses, church's, loads of history, restaurants, bars, shops. Or you can just laze in the garden soaking up the peace and quiet. The port town of Vannes is 40 minutes drive, with it's beautiful Chateau, and amazing market on Saturday morning should be on everyones visit list.

Seating for 10. It is possible to seat up to 12 around the large oak dining table inside the house. There is also a large 8 seater table in the garden for alfresco dining.

The two sets of stairs are wooden, rustic and open plan. There is a step between the main living area of the house going through to the bedrooms and bathroom.
Local activities in and around Pontivy, Brittany
The longuere is close to the old town of Pontivy with cobbled streets and wooden houses, an amazing range of shops, bars, restaurants. There are wonderful walks in the area, along the canal, by the river, in the woods or just in the countyside. Bicycles, canoes, boats, can be hired locally, and horse riding is available. Good restaurants, bars within a short drive. The people are very friendly.
Vannes is a beautiful old port and is the closest coast 30/40 minutes drive. With restaurants and bars overlooking the port and lovely market on Saturdays. Fantastic shopping. A lavoir (where the women did their washing) wonderful architecture.
Shopping to die for, clothes, food, presents, furniture.
There is so much history in the area you are spoilt for choice, Old towns, museums, churches, standing stones.
There is a market in one or other of the local towns nearly every day of the week so you can purchases all the wines, cheeses, meats, bread you can ever want.
The closest ferry ports are St Malo and Roscoff approx. 2 to 3 hour drive, the tunnel approx 7 to 8 hours drive. Airport's are Dinard approx. 1.5 hours drive, Rennes, and Nantes 3 to 4 hours drive, the roads are usually quiet, obviously depending on the time of year.
*Fishing, walking, horse riding and canoeing, boating, bike riding rental, are all availble with in a short drive. *Interesting Churches. *Chateaus at, Josslin, Pontivy, Largoet, Sarzeau. Lavoir (where people did there washing) Vannes, Baud. *Lac au Duc Plomerel, a lake for sailing, canoeing, picnicing, walking in the woods. *Port Louis Museum of the French India Co. *Lorient WW11 U boat base, AND lots of shops, restaurants, bars. *Carnac Ancient stones/megaliths. *Markets selling everything. *Old towns, Dinard, Rennes, Cannes, Jossalin, to name but a few are all well worth a visit for the architecture, restaurants, bars, shops and of course the ambiance.

The change over day is SUNDAY leaving the property at 10am and the arrival time is at 4pm this gives us time to organize the house and to make sure everything is clean and tidy.
Weekly prices are INCLUSIVE of electricity, gas, water, bed linen, quilts, pillows and towels, bath, hand and pool if required.
The kitchen is large and very well equipped.
There is plenty of seating around the garden for relaxation. Large BBQ area, two outside tables, for alfresco dining.
Your own private pool, which does not have to be shared.
The garden is approximately an acre, fenced all the way round and enclosed parking.
Pat and Don, who are English are just a phone call away for problems with the house or pool or just for general advise about the area.
