Local activities in and around Playa Blanca , Lanzarote
Playa Flamingo is within very easy reach of Playa Blanca with its shops, bars and excellent restaurants. The bungalow is within 10 min walking distance of Playa Blanca village and Harbour and the new Punta Limones precinct . The superb Papagayo beaches are a ten minute drive away and should not be missed.
Close to all amenties for sightseeing Playa Blanca is the fastest growing resort on the island of Lanzarote. Originally a fishing village, a modern port has been built allowing the twice-daily car and passenger ferry from the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura to dock. There are 2 beaches in the resort; the original is small, and looks out towards the port and the distant island of Los Lobos, the new man made beach is larger, offering a range of water sports and refreshment facilities.
Playa Flamingo Beach The golden sands are popular for families and the gently sloping sea entry into placid waters is safe for children.
Papagayo Beach Papagayo is a collection of small bays featuring crystal clear waters and fine white sands, with some of the finest beaches on the island.
Access is via a toll road, which is not surfaced. The car hire companies insist that a 4-wheel drive vehicle be used in this area, but the advice is generally ignored. Papagayo was famed for nudism, but the increase in tourism over the last 5 years has driven all but the most resilient nudists away. Many families visit the area for day trips and a beach picnic.
A boat trip can be taken from the nearby resort of Playa Blanca to view the coves and beaches from the mariners perspective.
