Just outside the historic Roman town of Vaas near Château du Loir, easy reach of Le Mans. Escape from the everyday to this luxury cottage sleeps 4 and is close to amenities but has a secluded garden.
It is stylish and comfortable, combining traditional charm with luxury conveniences. The interior has been newly refurbished and great thought has been given to interior design and finishing touches.
As you enter you will be greeted with a ‘Little Treats’ pack containing essentials such as tea, coffee and fresh baked bread to get you in the mood for your holiday.
Entering the cottage you will notice the sympathetic mix of exposed stone walls, beams, original terracotta walls and the tasteful interior design.
There is spacious kitchen with new fitted shaker style units and a large farmhouse kitchen table which comfortably seats 6. It is fully equipped with gas hob and oven, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee maker. Washing machine and dryer are in the adjacent laundry room.
The lounge features an enormous stone fireplace with woodburning stove (perfect for keeping off the chill on cool autumn evenings) and relaxing seating area.
There is a full entertainment system with satellite and terrestrial TV and DVD. There is a sound system with CD player and radio plus board games and a library of books and DVDs
We also provide an information guide featuring restaurants, things to see and details about local food/ wine.
There is one downstairs bathroom with stylish modern bathroom with ‘zen’ style basin, bath, separate shower and WC.
You climb the oak staircase to the bedrooms.
The master bedroom features an antique double bed and wardrobe and storage units. The second bedroom has two single beds and wardrobe. Both bedrooms have exposed beams.

Towels are complimentary and bedlinen can be supplied for a charge of 25 euros per room.

Local activities in and around Chateau Du Loir, Charente/Vendee/W. Loire
The Loire is known as the ‘Garden of France’ thanks to its temperate climate and abundant local produce. Vaas is a small market town 1 km away which has a wealth of shops to suit both functional and recreational shopping. There are pleasure boats and canoeing on the river and local ‘moulins’ to explore.
There is market twice a week on Monday afternoon and Friday morning. There is also a train station.
Le Lude is a 10 minute drive from Vaas, offering spectacular river views, magnificent châteaux and boutiques, restaurants, bars and historic buildings, as well as superb markets.
Le Mans, approx 30 minutes drive away, as well as being famous for car and motorcycle racing has some of the best preserved Roman walls in Europe and a magnificent cathedral in the old town.
The Loire Region is steeped in history and provides many attractions with its museums, abbeys, medieval churches, cathedrals, and troglodyte caves - all close by.
You are ideally placed to visit all the vineyards of the region which produces light reds, white and rosé wines.
For adults (who are really kids at heart) there is a fabulous zoo at La Flèche and there are 140 ‘Boules’ clubs in the area for those who want to play with the locals.
The river, lakes and forests accommodate those with outdoor interests. There is a wide range of water sports such as fishing, sailing, canoeing or swimming, jetskiing is less than a km away.
There are public swimming pools and local lakes with fishing and sandy beaches.
There are also plenty of paths for cycling, walking and horse riding.
There are at least six first class golf courses in the area.
For those partial to ‘retail therapy’ there are a multitude of options from local markets to exclusive boutiques in Tours and Angers (and, of course, Paris is less than an hour away on the TGV from Le Mans).
We live in the area and are only a phone call away for recommendations and handy hints about the area.
