Los Balagos - Country Cottage Overlooking the Asturian Coast
Cottage with 1 Bedroom, Sleeps 3, Garden
This small stone cottage is ideal for couples looking for a cozy getaway in rural Asturias on the Costa Verde. It has a large double bed and a single bed in the loft above with great views of the farming valley below and the Cape Peñas' lighthouse and ocean in the distance. It is one of the original cottages on an organic farm, completely renovated to make a comfortable holiday retreat.
Los Balagos has been thoughtfully restored. The cottage is divided into two stories. Upstairs, under the high-beam wooden ceiling and loft is the bedroom and sitting area, the en-suite bathroom and a wood burning stove with plenty of firewood provided. Down the outside stairs is the nicely equipped kitchen and dining area.(Note: Low ceiling in kitchen maks it uncomfortable for anyone over 6'3" (190cm). A terrace wraps around the front and side of the house and there is a private garden area in front with an ocean view for evening meals and sitting out. Behind the cottage is the organic vegetable garden.
Three more vacation homes are found on our place. El Pajar, sleeping 2, is next door and La Cumbre (2-6 with special rates for couples) is in front and El Balcon (2) is just up the hill. The owners (Spanish and American), live across the way to the side. Happily there is plenty of space and parking for all with separate garden areas for each cottage.
We invite you to spend time here relaxing and walking the old paths leading off the property to include the Camino de Santiago, an old pilgrim route, or spend your days exploring the many beaches and villages along the coast. We are happy to translate and help make reservations for you. We enjoy sharing our love and knowledge of the area.

Guestbook
"A beautiful place and great hosts. Every day an adventure, with fantastic scenery even before you left the house! We won't tell too many people - a purely selfish thought! The house was very comfortable, cosy and welcoming!" - Angela and David, June 2006
"It's 10pm and we're writing this outside with the soft sound of cow bells in the field in front of us. We've had a superb time, greatly helped by our incredibly friendly hosts, Lynn and Pepe (and Mandrio the dog). We are sad to leave tomorrow." - Judith and Max, June 2006
"Los Balagos has been a truly fantastic place to stay-both as a place to relax and unwind and also a place from which to explore the most incredible countryside, beaches and small mountain villages. Lynn and Pepe have been great hosts." - Steve and Dawn, June 2006
"A simply stunning location. Found it on the internet and everything is just as described only better- great accomodation, fantastic scenery, super hosts. Notes and advice were very useful. Pepe's a real treasure!" - Ann and Piers, UK,2007
"A wonderful place to unwind, a fantastic location and equally fantastic views and people. We came here to surf and relax. The surf could have been better but the relaxing part was spot on...Would highly recommend it to friends." - Tim and Sophie, France 2007
"We came for a bike race not expecting to find too much else to excite us. We discovered a really delightful place: the beautiful province of Asturias with its eye-opening scenery and friendly welcoming people, a charming place to stay run by a couple of equally charming hosts, and an awe-inspiring (for we city dwellers) access road where I discovered unknown driving skills! Enjoy!!
" - Roger and Christine, France 2008
