Enjoy the beautiful countryside at La Fermette - a newly renovated farmhouse set in the Normandy National Park. La Fermette stands on over an acre of land surrounded by green fields, trees and cows and yet is only minutes drive from market towns and all amenieties.
The three bedroomed farmhouse sleeps up to six people. It has been carefully restored and modernised. The original oak beams are a feature, as is the granite fireplace and exposed granite walls.

La Fermette stands in the farmland called L'Aide Frechu. The house is reached by a short private track which joins the road connecting Mortain and Domfront.
The recent restoration has created quality accommodation whilst retaining original features of the farmhouse. It is privately owned.
The ground floor and staircase is constructed of natural wood. White decor contrasts with the granite wall surrounding the large fireplace. The sitting room has a leather suite, with recliner, and an entertainment centre with UK TV, DVD, CD, VHS and tape facilities. There is a small library of books, films and games etc.
The open fire creates a warm and rustic ambiance as well as being an effective source of heat. Wall heaters heat all other rooms and can be individually controlled.
The newly fitted kitchen has natural wood units, ceramic hob, integrated oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. The dining area, with modern wooden table, seats six and has views over the garden.
The first floor rooms have clean, modern decor with rustic furniture and beams. Quality bedlinen and towels are supplied. There is a full white bathroom and a separate shower room to serve the bedrooms.
An additional feature is the basement. This houses the laundry and a range of activties and garden furniture. This includes, light gym equipment, table tennis and other games as well as a gas bbq. Access is by external double glazed doors which open out onto the back garden.
All rooms have newly fitted natural wood double glazing, with French windows in major rooms.
A spring rises on the land which feeds a natural pond. The pond is surrounded by trees and attracts wildlife - ducks, coypu and frogs. The nearby fields are often home to cows and local crops. A short walk from the end of the drive takes you to a cider farm. The farmer produces well known local cider, poire and Calvados.

The ground floor bedroom makes easy access for the less mobile. There is a cloakroom/wc downstairs but the bathroom and shower room are upstairs.
Local activities in and around Mortain, Normandy
L'Aide Frechu is in the district of St Jean du Corail. It stands near to the main D907 to Mortain, which is the closest small town, in the Department of Manche, Normandy.
Mortain has a range of shops and banks, a tourist office, doctor, post office and an open air swimming pool. It also has a supermarket and a weekly street market. There are two waterfalls to visit, an ancient abbey, a tiny cliff-top chapel, WW2 historic sites and a karting centre.
There are a wealth of walking and cycling opportunties. The former railway line has been converted to a safe walking/cyling track and the local tourist office provides details of many touristic opportunities.
The market town of St Hilaire du Harcouet is only fifteen minutes away. Here there is a greater range of shops and facilities and a thriving weekly market.
Domfront, a medieval hillside town, is also just a short drive away and provides an interesting half-day visit.
To the west lies a beautiful coastline with holiday resorts such as Granville, St Malo and Dinard and the world famous Mont St Michel.
To the north lies the Normandy landing beaches, war museums, lovely coastline, Bayeux tapestry and the city of Caen. To the south lies Rennes, Brittany and the Loire. To the east Calvados and more of Normandy.
A range of tourist guides are kept for reference at the property and desribe local activties like the swimming pool, Go Karting, Museums, Zoos, Biscuit Factory, Bell Foundry, Pottery Museum and more.
A guest book enables tips to be passed on to others about what they found interesting and useful in the locality, including local restaurants.
There are tourist information offices in Mortain, St Hilaire, Domfront and all the local towns. They will provide further information about the numerous tourist opportunites in the area.
There are a range of travel options: Sea crossing to local ports of Caen or Cherbourg or a longer drive from other ports. Flights to Dinard - about one hour drive. Train via Paris to Vire then car.
