The Cottage and the pool
‘Volets Bleus’ is the very private wing of our own home, having central heating and a covered, secluded, terrace. It is an excellent self-catering rental property. There is a double bedroom, shower room [thermostatic shower] and kitchen/lounge, all of good size. The kitchen is very well equipped with oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, micro-wave etc. There is also a washing machine. There is a woodburning stove in the lounge. We have now added a TV [terrestrial and English satellite], and a video/DVD player. Visitors can use our video library.
A really comfortable and very well equipped French gite. The terrace has outside furniture,BBQ etc..‘Volets Bleus’ is ideal for a couple and, because of its layout, for people with reduced mobility.
Visitors have their own [cared for!] organic vegetable plot, and are free to help themselves to seasonable vegetables - melons, tomatoes, lettuce, courgettes etc.
The mediaeval square and streets of Monflanquin provide a unique and magical atmosphere.
Monflanquin is a mediaeval hilltop ‘Bastide’ village. It is classified as ‘L’un des plus beaux villages de France’ and elected `one of the top ten villages in France` by the Daily Telegraph travel writers. When one sees the beautiful vaulted archways surrounding the central square you can understand why. It is a thriving village supporting all the services you require – banks, post office, doctors, butchers, bakers, bars and a wide choice of restaurants. We also have a good sized Casino supermarket and our Thursday village market has been operating for over 750 years!
We have lived here for many years, and are well placed to offer advice/help in the buying and renovation of properties. We can also organise 'new build'.

Local activities in and around Monflanquin, Aquitaine/Dordogne
The local economy is essentially agricultural, with farmers growing large quantities of maize and sunflowers. The climate also favours the growing of grapes, strawberries, melons, fruits, nuts and tomatoes. The gently rolling countryside is dotted with 13th Century villages and chateaux and Monflanquin produces its own ‘Caves des Sept Monts’ white, rose and red wines. Sunflowers add a magical feel to the whole of the Lot & Garonne region.
The Lot & Garonne, our department, is just south of the Dordogne and to the west of the Lot region. We are therefore, ideally situated for the exploration of all of these river valleys, rich in history and having the most beautiful scenery.
Things to do and see: For those who like to explore, then day visits to Cahors, Bergerac, Issigeac, Monpazier, Domme, Les Eyzies and St Emilion are all possible. Our colourful local markets are always worth a visit. However, why not do what most of our visitors do - just flop around the pool, relax, and enjoy our local food and wine.
Local directions are passed on when the balance is received. We are very easy to find.
