This lovely restored semi-detached cottage offers a delightful base from which to enjoy the pleasures of the Cotentin Penninsula. Situated on a quiet lane just 300 metres from the edge of St. Saveur Forest, which is the perfect spot for walking, birdwatching and gathering mushrooms. Nearby Mont Besneville offers a breathtaking 360 degree panoramic view of both coastlines of the Cotentin and the Channel Islands. Only 10 minutes from the west coast with beautiful beaches and the bustling market town of Portbail.
You can paddle a canoe on the River in St. Sauveur le Vicomte and also take the children to the Adventure Park with its various levels of difficulty.
Summer ferry service from Carteret (20 minutes) to Jersey.
It is a 30 minute drive from Cherbourg, 1 hr and 15 mins from Caen and 1 hr from Bayeux.

The large comfortable salon with log burner is tastefully furnished with comfortable seating and some antique furniture. It also offers full entertainment facilities for when you just want to sit and relax (satelliteTV, music system, dvd player, radio, games, books etc). The spacious well-equipped kitchen diner has a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge and microwave oven. The large, ancient, dining table seats up to 10 people, and you have everything you need for preparing the family banquet! Downstairs wc.
Upstairs comprises 1 family bathroom, twin bedroom (The Ruby Room), double bedroom (La Chambre Verte) with pretty double bed and oak dressing table, and a very large (40 sq metre) Master bedroom - The Chamber of Secrets - housing a genuine confessional box complete with sliding doors: the rest we leave to your imagination! The room also houses a magnificent oak bed for all who enjoy delusions of grandeur! The en-suite facilities are completed by a beautiful slipper bath which sits in the corner of the room behind a screen. A small balcony overlooks the garden - and is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy that morning cup of tea.

Bedrooms:
2 Double Bedrooms, 1 Twin Bedroom. The main bedroom (Chamber of Secrets) is very large room and there is sufficient space for a child's cot or an extra bed if necessary. Travel cot and french metal cot provided.
Bathrooms:
2 Bathrooms, 3 Separate WC's. The Ruby Room (twin) and the Green Room (double) share the use of the family bathroom. The master bedroom (The Chamber of Secrets) has its own ensuite facilities.
There is a downstairs toilet.
Kitchen:
Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Iron. Large (40 sq metre) fully equipped kitchen to meet all domestic needs. If there is anything missing, just let us know and we'll do our best to provide it.! Large patio doors leading onto garden.

Real Fire, Maid Service, House Linen, Towels Provided. Salon with large log burner. Logs are provided for those cooler evenings.
Beds are made up and ready for arrival.
Towels provided are for house use, please bring your own beach towels.

Seating for 8. A large and ancient family-sized dining table is situated in the kitchen diner and there is sufficient crockery and cutlery for entertaining.
Entertainment:
Terrestrial TV, Satellite TV, Video, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games. There are cinemas in St. Saveur, Carteret, Bricquebec and Cherbourg and all other information can be obtained from the local tourist offices.

Local activities in and around Besneville, Normandy
Situated in the heart of the countryside, yet only 7 kilometres from the coast, this is the perfect spot to enjoy any of the following activities - walking, fishing, birdwatching, horse-riding, cycling. There are miles and miles of unspoiled beaches for the children. The area is also famous for the historical legacies of the World War 2 Allied invasion of Europe in 1944 - the Normandy landing beaches, museums and war cemeteries are within a short car drive. Other nearby attractions include the historical town of Bayeux (70 kilometres), Coutances (50 kilometres) and Mont St Michel (100 kilometres).
From spring through to Autumn there are countless Vide Greniers (car boot sales) across the area where you can while away hours hunting out the special bargain.
All the local towns have their own special Saints Days where there are fairs with music and firework displays.
The 21st June is music day across France and music of all types can be enjoyed across the region. Coutances has its jazz festival and in August, on the Isle de Tatihou there is a world music festival with artists from across the globe.
The plant fayre at Crosville is an event that attracts people from around the regions and also offers the opportunity to view the chateau.

Rental Notes: Normally Saturday to Saturday. Arrival time from 1600 hrs, departure by 1030 hrs. Some flexibility possible by arrangement with owners outside peak periods.
Outside the high season it is possible to rent the property for shorter breaks (3 nights minimum) At a cost of £135. Euros 175. Additonal days at £35. Arrival and departure dates can be flexible.
A deposit of 25% is required to secure your booking, with the balance due 6 weeks prior to arrival. Bed linen, towels and tea cloths are provided.
A returnable security deposit of 100 euros is also required to cover damages/loss. However, the sum reserved by this clause shall not limit the clients' responsibility to the owner. The owner will account to the client for the security deposit.

Discounted ferry fares with Brittany/Condor and Irish Ferries may be available on reservation of this property.
