Stirling is the heritage capital of Scotland and was awarded city status as part of Her Majesty the Queen's Golden Jubilee Celebrations in 2002. Stirling is bustling and offers fine shopping and leisure facilities to complement it's historical attractions. History is alive in the streets of the Old Town, winding upwards to the Castle and the Church of the Holy Rude, the second oldest building in Stirling next to the Castle.
Wallace's Monument is a short drive away as is The Falkirk Wheel and Bannockburn Heritage Centre where Robert the Bruce won the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. The city tour bus can be stopped just a minute's walk from the apartment. It's a hop on, hop off service and the ticket lasts two days. You can also get 10% off all visitor attractions in the area with this ticket.
There are many golf courses in the area, the nearest being just a mile away. There are excellent public transport facilities and trips to both Edinburgh and Glasgow are within easy reach by rail from Stirling (30 minutes). Stirling Railway Station is 900m from the apartment. There is a swimming pool and fitness complex nearby and there are bike paths all around the surrounding area.
Church of the Holy Rude
The Church of the Holy Rude is the second oldest building in Stirling, Scotland, after the Castle. The church was founded in 1129 during the reign of David I (1124 - 1153) as the parish church of Stirling.
It is a two minute walk from the apartment.
