If not sightseeing then relax in the garden sipping chilled wine on the patio with the BBQ wafting glorious aromas and listen to the birds giving you a free concert. For chilly evenings, curl up by the woodburning stove for maximum coziness. Be charmed by the exposed stonework and open beams but with modern comforts such as a fitted kitchen and a great ensuite shower room. Our rates are inclusive of utilities, bedding, linen, towels, tea towels and a supply of cleaning and other sundry goods such as loo rolls, bin bags, kitchen towels, detergent & fabric softner, washing up liquid as well as cooking & olive oils and condiments. Basically we provide everything other than food, drink & personal toiletries so that our guests won’t stock up on things they won't be able to use up in the space of a holiday.

The newly extended cottage is detached and stands in an acre of land, there is a large patio area leading into the garden and it contains a bench seat, picnic table, BBQ, an ornamental well and washing line. As the garden is not fully enclosed, children would need to be supervised.
The new living room has french doors onto the garden, a high vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, a wood burning fire, two 2 seater sofas, TV (receives satellite free 2 view BBC channels plus some others), Video, CD player, selection of books, Videos and CDs.
The original cottage now has a separate dining room seating 6 with a fully fitted kitchen with electric hob, fan assisted oven, extractor fan, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, toaster, cutlery, crockery and utensils.
The ground floor twin bedroom has an adjoining family bathroom with washing machine, iron and ironing board. First floor's romantic and spacious master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling with exposed oak beams, wardrobes and chest of drawers, period chair to enjoy the views from and an en-suite shower room with basin and WC.
There is also a lovely small separate sitting room with views over the garden, containing a single bed.

Local activities in and around Chateaubriant, Charente/Vendee/W. Loire
Chateaubriant and the surounding area is full of interesting historical places to visit, throughout the summer months the château and bandstand within the grounds are host to numerous open air concerts and theatrical productions, many of which are free. The more modern parts of the town are represented by the "theatre de verre" (the glass theatre), a bowling alley, a cinema and the Olympic sized swimming pool.
There are a variety of restaurants and street cafés which willingly accommodate children and suit all palettes and pockets. You can sample the world famous "Chateaubriant" steak and don't forget to try the "Galette de Ble Noir" (a pancake made with buckwheat flour) served with a bowl of cider. The night life consists of local bars and discotheques.
The local tourist board publish a booklet every summer containing ideas and information about all the events taking place in the area. Activities include 18 hole swin golf, croquet, archery, waterskiing, karting, paint-balling, paragliding, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and boating.
It is also an ideal place for trecking, and horse riding. There are 4 riding centres within reach. Chateaubriant also has a racetrack where trotting races are held, a bit different but just as exciting as regular horse racing.
The regions also offers beautiful lakes, rivers, markets, fetes and the famous Foire de Bere (country show) which has been held in Chateaubriant since 1050 is on the 2nd weekend in September and not to be missed.
An easy drive from St Malo via Rennes in around 1 hour 40, or from Rennes airport in 40 mins. Full route details supplied on booking.

Rental Notes: A 25% deposit is required for a confirmed booking with the full amount payable 8 weeks prior to the holiday. A £100 refundable security deposit is required as cleared funds prior to the start of the holiday. The rates are fully inclusive of all utilities, bedding, linen, towels (if requested) tea towels and a comprehensive supply of cleaning and other sundry goods such as loo rolls, bin bags, kitchen towels, detergent & fabric softner, washing up liquid as well as cooking & olive oils and condiments. Basically we try to provide everything other than food, drink & personal toiletries so that there is no need for our guests to stock up on things they won't be able to use up in the space of a holiday. Changeover days are Saturday during peak season but flexible the rest of the year. 20% Discounts available on Brittany Ferries on booking. Although we do not live on site, we are only 40 mins away in case of emergencies and always meet and greet new guests in person.
