13a Belhaven Gardens, the ground floor property in a large stone house, has been recently refurbished entirely. The modern but traditional kitchen overlooks the large garden where many a day can be spent relaxing, playing croquet or having a BBQ in the Scottish sunshine – Dunbar, often named ‘Sunny Dunny’ has its fair share of sunshine and is one of the driest areas in the British Isles.

The house itself has been in the family for decades. The recent refurbishment has been done with the utmost love and attention to detail.
We aim for you to be ‘home from home’ and enjoy the house and surrounding area as we have for many years. There is one bedroom and a very comfortable sofa bed in the lounge – storage is plentiful and so there is plenty of space for a family or two couples to have a comfortable holiday experience.
All rooms have been decorated in a modern style but in keeping with the traditional way of the building. At the end of the very large garden, which gets sun all day long, you will find an old hen house, now a garden hut which is storage for the garden furniture, BBQ and games.
The house is on ground floor level and so is very accessible and is suitable for any age group. Belhaven beach, next to Winterfield Golf Club is literally just round the corner at the end of Duke Street. It is a very large beach in a huge bay. Walking, horse riding and kite flying are just some of the things you can do – there has been the occasional ‘kite buggy’ seen on Belhaven sands too! Dunbar centre is about a fifteen minute walk away. Here you will find a variety of restaurants and local shops.
There is a supermarket and leisure centre in the town too.

Terrestrial TV, Video, Radio, CD System. There is a croquet set in the garden shed available for your use. There are maps and information about the locality in a box in the house.

Local activities in and around Dunbar, Central Scotland
There are a variety of activities to do in the local area.
The John Muir Country Park (John Muir was born in Dunbar) starts at the end of Duke Street. There is also museum dedicated to John Muir on Dunbar High Street.
Towards Dunbar is a cliff top walk taking you past the site of the old outdoor pools, now home to the new leisure complex which overlooks the harbour and sea.
There are plenty of tearooms and art galleries to explore many of in local villages and historic old towns.
Other boat trips can be taken from further down the coastline towards the Scottish Borders. There is a famous Sunday market, which takes place on the site of an old airstrip close to North Berwick.
Beaches are plentiful and varied. Belhaven beach is a huge expanse of sand as are some of the beaches along the coastline towards North Berwick. Some are smaller and are perfect for 'beach days'.
If you want to explore further, Edinburgh is a short drive or train journey away. Famous for its galleries, castle and Royal Mile and is of course the famous Edinburgh festival in August.
Golf
Golf is one of the many attractions. As well as the two local courses–one in Belhaven itself and one in Dunbar- here are numerous spread around the countryside. East Lothian is a popular destination for golfers of all standards

North Berwick, 10 miles from Belhaven is home to the award winning Scottish Seabird Centre. Here you can view the interactive live cameras on local islands which are populated with birds or simply enjoy a lovely lunch overlooking the sea. Boat trips to the Bass Rock and Fidra Island also take place here from around Easter to October

Walking
Belhaven is a fantastic base for hill walking. The Southern Uplands Way ends just 5 miles south of Dunbar. There are also nature and geology walks in the area.
