This recently built house stands at the eastern edge of the character-full Turkish Cypriot village of Çatalköy. Uninterrupted and dramatic views to the Five Finger Mountain behind contrast with the olive groves and minarets of the landscape sloping down to the sea ahead. The walled garden has been professionally landscaped and provides different areas to relax in. There is a large pool terrace, a separate barbecue area and plenty of outdoor furniture to relax on.
Accommodation for eight people is spacious and light and the house has been tastefully, yet comfortably furnished. All the furnishings are co-ordinated and give the house an easy, relaxed atmosphere and elegance. Nearly every room has windows on two sides with one leading to either a balcony or terrace.
Floors are tiled throughout. The sitting room has comfortable sofas (which seat 8) and opens out onto a dining terrace overlooking the pool the large garden has been beautifully and imaginatively landscaped. The well equippedkitchen has a dining area (seats 8 easily), overlooking the garden and linking into the sitting room. You can also easily reach the barbecue from the dining area or just enjoy drinks on the terrace. On the ground floor there is also a full sized air conditioned twin bedroom, a shower/bathroom and toilet.
The airy marble stairs lead to the landing area, two double bedrooms (one en-suite) another twin bedroom and the third bathroom. All bedrooms have air conditioning as well as fitted wardrobes with shelving. The dressing tables, padded stools, mirrors, bedside tables and lamps all have coordinated details and designs.
The house is ideal for one or two families to relax by the pool, enjoy the local surroundings or to explore the area with Girne(Kyrenia) and the famous cultural monastery village of Bellapais nearby, crusader castles in the mountains and the many quiet little bays along the coast for fishing, bathing, boating and diving.

Many elderly people are fit and able bodied these days and have enjoyed our house. The ground floor bedroom which is next to the bathroom is ideal if someone prefers not to be upstairs.
Local activities in and around Catalkoy, Northern Cyprus
Standing at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa, Cyprus has long been the most desirable island of the Mediterranean with its beautiful clean beaches, diverse landscape and nine thousand years of history. Crusader castles rub shoulders with ancient vineyards, the frescoed monastery of Bellapais overlooks citrus orchards and explorers feet tread sand beaches in search of greenback and loggerhead turtles.
Around Catalkoy there is a great deal to explore. Kyrenia, in the middle of the north coast, is the most pleasant coastal resort on the island and is only ten minutes away from the house. The harbour in the old quarter is the most atmospheric place to be. The harbour is the main departure point for boat trips and offers up a wealth of cafes and restaurants in a true Mediterranean style. Kyrenia Castle is well worth a visit, originally built in Roman times, the mostly Venetian building includes a Byzantine chapel and a museum of shipwrecks, housing the world's oldest shipwreck and its cargo.
Explore the wilds of the Karpaz Peninsular (a favourite with us), where an abundance of flora and fauna live undisturbed. Keep an eye open for griffon vultures, foxes, fruit eating bats and sea turtles. Here you will find the most beautiful unspoilt empty beaches, Roman pots lying in the fields and if you visit in the Spring, you may be lucky enough to spot a black tulip. As Cyprus has always been an island, many of the Cypriot species particularly plants are found nowhere else in the world.
The area around Habibi House is fascinating to explore, from mountain ranges, coastal plains and cultivated lands. There is something here for everyone.

Flights and Travel
Flights are available into Ercan Airport in the north and Larnaca in the south. Ercan is about 20 miles away and Larnaca is about 50 miles. If you choose to fly into Larnaca a taxi can be arranged to bring you through a checkpoint outside Nicosia without any difficulty. More than 80 flights a week arrive at Ercan, north Cyprus airport during the Summer. There are 15 flights a week from three UK airports; Stansted, Gatwick and Heathrow.
