Set in the Deux Sèvres region of the Poitou-Charentes, said to be one of the sunniest regions in France, this 200-year-old recently renovated property is full of original handcrafted features with magnificent fireplaces and log burners.
The house -- which has seven large double bedrooms -- is furnished to a very high standard and provides flexible and comfortable living for 4 to 14 people ... though we can accommodate up to 17 if desired. (There is an extra charge per person per week over 14 persons).
The landscaped grounds are terraced and weave intricately down to the 9 x 5 m kidney shaped swimming pool. The two fish ponds and the water feature provide a superb backdrop for al fresco dining. Whether you are enjoying a barbecue in one of the sheltered seating areas or are watching the sun go down on another fabulous day in the sun, everything you need is right here.
By night, the artfully placed lighting changes the atmosphere once again, encasing you in your own world as you unwind with a glass of wine and look forward to another stress-free relaxing day in one of the most natural and beautiful areas of rural France.

Bedrooms:
5 Double Bedrooms, 2 Twin Bedrooms. The sleeping arrangements are in the main flexible providing for groups, multiple family and single accommodation if required.
Bathrooms:
1 Bathroom, 4 Showers, 1 Separate WC. Four of the bedrooms have en suite facilities including integral WCs. There is a separate WC on the main landing and a further shower room/WC on the third floor.
Kitchen:
Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Iron. The large, modern fully fitted kitchen with enough crockery and cutlery to enable everyone to dine in style and comfort in the adjacent well appointed dining room.
General:
Real Fire, House Linen, Towels Provided. All the linen, bedding and towels are included in the price; a washing machine is provided if you wish to change linen weekly! Towels for pool and beach not provided.
Dining:
There is a large dining room with seating for 14, but during the summer we find most of our guests prefer to dine in one of the many outside patio areas.
Entertainment:
Satellite TV, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games, Table Tennis. There are English TV channels available via two satellite television sets, one connected to Sky, the other to Freeview (in the self contained apartment).
Outside:
Private Pool, Terrace, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Balcony, Garden Furniture. There is a waterfall which drops down via a bog garden into fish ponds which abound with goldfish and frogs.

Part of our garden is landscaped with a waterfall, fishponds and secluded walkways and this area, together with the 9m x 5m swimming pool is fenced and gated to ensure your children's safety.
Local activities in and around Niort, Charente/Vendee/W. Loire
Bagnault is a beautiful medieval village on the Route du Chabichou - a gastronomique route of 200 km devoted to goats cheese dairies, organic farms and producers. The area is famous for Pineau des Charentes, the delightful aperitif; tastings are available at the many local producers or for something a little stronger visit Cognac just down the road!
There are countless walks and cycle tracks with a wealth of wildlife and nature to explore.The area is charming and well worth exploring for yourself. Bagnault and its neighbouring village Exoudun has been awarded the status of "cite de caractere en Poitou-Charentes" only given to the most picturesque villages in the region.
Vist the nearby towns of La Mothe St Heray, Lezay and St Maixent l'Ecole to experience the local way of life and sample the unique weekly markets selling everything from sun hats to garlic!
There is easy access to the historic and ancient port of La Rochelle and the enticing Ile de Ré for chic seafood harbour restaurants, wonderful, unspoilt beaches, Aquarium, sailing and much more.
For nature lovers visit the Marais Poitevin for a day of gentle punting on the canals and waterways.
Niort and Poitiers for historic and artistic interest, boutiques and the famous theme park of the moving image - Futuroscope.
From Calais: West on A16 then A28 to Rouen, Tours, Le Mans; A10 to Poitiers; at J30 go N10 (dir Niort) then D611 to Lusignan; then D150 (becomes D950) to Chenay. Right in Chenay on D307 to Bagnault.

Rental Notes: Smoking is only allowed in the garden but not around the pool area. Changeover day is Saturday. Arrival is at 4 pm and must be vacated before 10 am on the last day. No weekly linen change. Washing facilities are provided. Rate applies to 14 persons (or those listed at booking), extra people charged at £70 per person per week up to a max of 17. Permission must be sought if guests wish visitors to stay during the rental and a charge may be made. The owners may be resident on site for all or part of the rental period. Payment made on-line or by UK cheque is preferred, but payment can be made via PAYPAL. All fees to be paid by the renter. Prices in Sterling are subject to change at the owners discretion.
From 1.3.09-1.6.09 and from 1.9.09 onwards we offer Bed and Continental-style Breakfast at €75 per night per double room (€10 each for children under 12 sharing parents room). A cooked "English" breakfast and/or a set evening meal available at a small charge. 25% deposit is required.
