This holiday house is perfectly situated near Sarlat in the Dordogne. You can easily visit the nearby attractions, such as the Bastide of Domme, Lascaux Caves, Rocamadour, Font de Gaume cave paintings, troglodyte houses, Sarlat & even the Bordeaux or Bergerac vineyards!!!

L'ancienne Poste is a beautiful honey coloured stone, three bedroomed home, which was formally the village Post Office, parts of which date from the 13th century!!
The main living, dining & kitchen area & all the bedrooms have panoramic views across the Dordogne river to 4 Chateaux. The living room has a log burner for romantic evenings in & British satelite TV for your comfort. The kitchen opens onto the terrace with table & chairs for sunny al fresco breakfasts & shaded evening meals with a glass of Bergerac wine.
The Garden Bedroom, has an ensuite bathroom, carved wooden double bed & medieval stone archway with French Doors opening onto the south facing garden. The Balcony Bedroom has a kingsize bed & double French doors giving panoramic views of the Dordogne valley below; it has an ensuite shower room & ceiling fan. The Vaulted bedroom has a double & a single bed, with a beautiful vaulted beamed ceiling & ceiling fans, an ensuite shower room & panoramic river views.
The beds will be made up with crisp white cotton bedlinen & there will be 2 bathroom & one pool towel per person. There is heating in all the rooms.
Outside the south facing garden & terraces overlook the Dordogne river & Chateaux, where you can sit in the shade & day dream, read or sip a glass of local Bergerac wine. The perfect holiday rental, a real home from home from which to watch the world pass you by on the river below. The private pool has a sun deck & a shaded flower covered seating area. There are ample sun loungers & chairs for all our guests.
L'ancienne Poste is accessible by car and has the advantage of a private covered double garage (formerly the village forge), which is a rarity in this medieval village. However, access is tight for large vehicles.

3 Double Bedrooms. For your arrival all the beds will be made up with white cotton bedlinen & the bathrooms will have towels provided. There are 2 x 140cm double beds, 1x 160cm double bed, 1 single bed, a Z bed & a cot
Bathrooms:
1 Bathroom, 2 Showers. The three bedrooms each have their own ensuite bath or shower rooms. In the bathroom there is a shower over the bath.
Kitchen:
Cooker, Hob, Fridge, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Iron. This is a full size kitchen with everything that you could possibly need. A welcome pack of food essentials such as tea, coffee, butter, baguette, brie & wine will be waiting for you on your arrival.
General:
Real Fire, Central Heating, House Linen, Towels Provided. A supply of logs is included for you to enjoy an open fire during the winter months.
Pool towels are also included in the rental rate.
Dining:
Seating for 7. There is a beautiful outside eating area which is surrounded by wisteria and overlooks the river. Inside, there is ample space around our farmhouse table for all the guests.
Entertainment:
Terrestrial TV, Satellite TV, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games. There is British Satelite TV and a selection of DVD's for you to watch. There are also board games to keep you amused. The village boules pitch is a 2 minute stroll away from the house.
Outside:
Private Pool, Terrace, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Balcony, Garden Furniture. In the village you can hire bikes & canoes, play tennis or boules. You can walk to all the bistros, shops & art galleries & even visit the Chateau de Beynac.
You could stay all week & not use a car!

L'ancienne Poste is set on the banks of the gently flowing Dordogne river overlooking 4 chateaux and one of the historic sites of the Hundred Years War (1337-1453) between England and France. The stunningly romantic village of Beynac, which rises dramatically from the valley floor and which was once the home of Richard the Lionheart, will enchant and captivate you at every turn, from its narrow medieval streets lined with soft honey coloured stone houses, shops, art galleries and restaurants to its magnificent Chateau, perched high on top the cliff, which has majestically watched over the Dordogne valley since 1150. You may already be familiar with Beynac and the surrounding area from watching such films as 'Chocolat', 'Joan of Arc', 'The Musketeer' and 'Timeline'.
This is one of the loveliest stretches of the Dordogne river and a 'not to be missed' stop for any traveller. The central Perigord Noir location allows you to visit the nearby attractions very easily, whether it be the world famous prehistoric cave paintings at Lascaux, or the World Heritage Classified Vezere Valley with its many Stone Age relics and caves dating from 20,000 years ago. Maybe, you might like to visit the vineyards of Bergerac and St.Emilion, or the perfectly preserved medieval town of Sarlat and some of the many fortified castles and Bastide towns which are all within a short drive from Beynac. If you wish to go Hot Air Ballooning as the sun rises over the surrounding castles that can be arranged too.
It is all here for you to do whether its drifting down the river in a canoe or eating at a Michelin starred restaurant, we will try our best to arrange it for you - even the sunshine.
