Chateau la Cellette is a 15th century chateau located in a small village surrounded by centuries old trees. It is located in the Dordogne between the villages of Riberac and Verteillac, in a small village named Celles.The Chateau has 6 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms.
The Chateau has been lovingly restored by a French architect and an American designer to the very highest standard. It is centrally heated so it can be used for your Christmas and Easter holidays as well as your summer vacation.
The chateau sleeps 12. The guest cottage sleeps 6. All the bedrooms in the Chateau are en-suite. There are fireplaces in every room. There is a beautiful garden with a magnificent trellis of roses, in the summer, as you approach the entrance of the house. There is a circular driveway with gates to let you in and out and assure the utmost privacy.
Picture yourself living in a luxurious place where centuries of other familes have lived before you. You would be enjoying the same regional wines and foods they did, including Pomerol, Saint Estephe, Pecharment, Bordeaux, Bergerac wines and so many more. You could be dining on the local foie gras, duck, truffles and magnificent farm grown fruits and vegetables this area has to offer.
This 15th century Chateau has been restored to the magnificence it once had with the added luxury of having all the 21st century necessities. These include internet connections and satellite TV.
There is a dining room with a library, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with an American refrigerator which has filtered water and an icemaker. The countertops are limestone with a very large limestone sink. There is a large French stove with 8 hobs and 2 ovens. A beautiful French table and 8 chairs are in the kitchen for enjoying your morning expresso and croissants, which are available at the boulangerie a few steps away.
In the Chateau there are six en-suite bedrooms five of them are doubles and one has two single beds with lace canopies.
The guest cottage has 3 bedrooms/ one bathroom. Two bedrooms have queen size beds and one has two single beds. There is also a kitchenette and sitting room.
The village of Riberac is approximately 10 kilometers away for you to do your shopping or stop and have a coffee at one of several charming cafes.
There is a heated swimming pool with plenty of lounge chairs as well as a dining table with 9 chairs.
You could enjoy the magnificent 15th century Orangerie which has the original stone floor and is now used as an outdoor dining room with gauze tied back curtains blowing in the breeze. Though it does have electricity it is best used when the candle chandelier is lit.
Just outside the front door there is a charming small stone walled garden with a stone table and benches for you to enjoy a meal or your coffee in the morning.

3 Bathrooms, 3 Showers, 1 Separate WC. Each of the bedrooms in the Chateau has it's own bathroom. The cottage has one bathroom for the 3 bedrooms and is ideal for a family.
Kitchen:
Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Iron. Gourmet kitchen, lovely Limoges white dishes, a large assortment cooking knives and tools. Gourmet cook would enjoy this kitchen as it is so well equipped. There is a lovely French table and 8 chairs.
General:
Real Fire, Central Heating, Maid Service, Telephone, House Linen, Towels Provided, Internet Access. WIFI is in the Chateau.There is satellite TV in English.
The original 15th century fireplace has been restored and there is a large supply of wood for you to enjoy.
Dining:
Seating for 10. There is a beautiful wall of books for your use while staying at the Chateau located on one wall of the dining room. The large glass shelved cabinet has wine and champagne as well as water glasses.
Entertainment:
Satellite TV, DVD, Radio, CD System. Closeby, in our village, there is a public tennis court. There are several golf courses in the area. Also available are canoeing trips and rope/rock climbing not too far away.
Outside:
Private Pool, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Garden Furniture. The property is maintained by a full time gardener and is in wonderful condition. There are flowers in pots around the pool and a massif with rose trees, lavender, and other flowering plants poolside.

Three of the bedrooms are up a magnificent original stone stairway and may be too difficult for elderly people. In the other tower and in the cottage there are ground floor bedrooms.
Local activities in and around Riberac, Aquitaine/Dordogne
There is a local market in Riberac every Friday morning. It is a good place to buy your rotisserie chicken and farm grown fruits and vegetables. It has so much more, including clothing, souvenirs, wine, cheese and foie gras. It is a must see.
The town of Perigueux is approximately 45 minutes away and it is fun to walk down the cobblestone streets in the old town and see the shops and restaurants.
Brantome is also about 45 minutes away and some of our best restaurants are located there. It is located on the river and you can take river rides or go kayaking. Many shops and restaurants line the riverside and it is quite scenic. There is also an ancient Abbey which is breathtaking. There are always art shows and other things to see.
In the summer there is a Baroque Music Festival held in several of the churches in the immediate area of Celles. One of the concerts has been held in the Church next to the Chateau. The music is played by very well known Baroque musicians from all over the world. It is a unique and lovely cultural experience.
In Aubeterre there is a Monolithic Church with a 4th century font. It is built into the hillside and very unique. Aubeterre is about 30 minutes from the Chateau with many things to do including eating in great restaurants. Sometimes there are concerts held in the Church and I saw a Russian acapella choir one evening in the candlelit main room of the church. It was a memorable experience.
In the town of Les Eysies you will find the pre historic caves. The whole area around Cahors and Domme are beautiful places to visit and are about a one and a half to two hour drive.
For the children there is horseback riding in very close proximity as well as canoeing and fishing.
In the town of Thenon you can do the rope activities including zip lines which everyone seems to love. Swimming in the pool is fun but if you want to go to the sea it is about a 2 hour drive to Royan. It can certainly be a day trip.

Rental Notes: - Changeovers are on Saturday after 3 in the afternoon. Check out is at 10:00 in the morning.
-A 50 percent deposit is required at the time of booking. The balance is due 60 days before arrival. No credit cards accepted. A security deposit of 1000 euros is required for each one or two week rental. More for longer.This deposit is to be included with the balance of the rental payment.
-Cancellations must be made in writing. Prior to 90 days of rental date 50 percent of the deposit will be returned, after that the deposit will be forfeited.
A security deposit of 10 percent will be required upon your arrival and will be returned 30 days after you leave.
- There are two hours of maid service provided which only allows for cleaning of the public areas.
- If you need someone to change the linen, clean all the bathrooms, and wash dishes additional maid sevice can be provided at additional cost.
- A cook as well as a physical trainer can be provided at extra cost.
