This lovely terraced cottage is situated in the picturesque Canal du Midi port town of Trebes giving you the perfect base from where to explore the fascinating area of the Languedoc Roussillon famous not only the magnificent Medieval City of Carcassonne, the Canal du Midi and Cathar Chateaux but also for being the heart of some of the most renowned French wines.

The cottage has been thoughtfully renovated and has given many people a wonderful base from which to explore the region. There is a kitchen/dinning room on the ground floor with a fireplace to snuggle around in the winter months. There is also a shower room with toilet and a larder with iron and board, etc.
Upstairs is a comfortable lounge area with television, cd/radio and a selection of books. You then walk through into a large and light double bedroom with fitted cupboards.
The cottage is situated in the old part of the village on a small lane that has the glorious Canal du Midi at one end and the River Aude at the other. In the village there are a selection restaurants and bars at the waterside. The village is in the heart of the wine country and produces its own very tasty wines.
The Medieval City of Carcassonne is just a few minutes drive away. It is a sight to behold. You can wonder around the winding ancient streets for many hours soaking up the Medieval history. In the lower part of Carcassonne there is a fantastic market every saturday morning where you can buy local produce and then enjoy sipping a glass of wine in one of the many bars around the square.
The larger cities of Montpellier, Toulouse and Perpignan are all within driving distance and have lots to offer.

Local activities in and around Trebes, Languedoc-Roussillon
This whole area is full of Medieval villages waiting to be explored. There are many ancient Chateaux and Abbeys where you are led on tours and told of the many years of exciting Cathar history. You can of course spend hours visiting the Chateaux and tasting some of the wonderful local wines - Minervois, Corbieres, Fitou and Cabardes.
The town of Limoux is within 20mins of the cottage and there you can sample the bubbles of the Blanquette de Limoux which was the original sparkling wine, many years before Champagne came about.
The miles of sandy beaches at Narbonne are within an hours drive. These are beautiful beaches that stretch mile after mile. Plenty of restaurants serving wonderful fish dishes. On the otherside of Carcassonne you will find the Lac de la Cavayere.
There are 3 beaches, pedalos, crazy golf, a snack bar/ice-creams. You can walk around the lake and enjoy watching the butterflies, frogs, fish, lizards etc. During the winter you can be on the slopes of the Pyrennees within 2 hours enjoying wonderful snow without millions of people.
If you want to relax and take in the local delicacies or speed down the rapids, go horse riding, cycling, swimming etc. this area has it all. or the golf lovers, there is also a very good golf course in Carcassonne.
And of course, if you fancy a day over the border into Spain, you can be there within 75mins. Tasting Paella and sipping Sangria on the shores of the pretty beaches. Trebes has its own swimming pool, tennis courts communal fishing lake, Bull ring, Quay side restaurants and bars, boats drifting by and passing through the locks and a great day to day atmosphere. Of course, there is the local wine to taste (very good!) and a staggering amount of grotto's chateaux, ruins abbeys etc etc

Rental Notes: We provide all linen within the price and you choose whether to clean upon leaving or have us organise it for you. Elderly people must be competant at using the stairs as all sleeping accomodation is on the upper level.
We specialise in small properties for couples and small families.
Our cottages are available all year round and we offer long out of season rentals for those of you who would like to spend a little longer exploring the region.
Perpignan and Toulouse airports are also very close by along with Carcassonne airport.
