Originally a farmhouse with outbuildings and barns it is approximately 100 years old and has been beautifully converted into holidays cottages. Situated in the village and surrounded by stunning beaches and countryside. It is possible to walk to Figuiera beach. Meranka has swimming pool, BBQ's, sun loungers, etc
Figueira is a typical Portuguese village of white washed houses, cobbled streets and locals going about their business!! It offers a rare opportunity to experience a calm pace of life whilst visiting the Algarve. It has several small shops, bars and restaurants, however many other resorts are closeby with Salema being the nearest just 1.5 km away. It is a perfect gateway to explore or simply relax on the beach.
Days can be spent visiting the many stunning beaches, several being 5 minutes by car, playing golf, surfing, fishing, sightseeing, shopping, rambling on the National Park or simply relaxing at Casa Meranka.
Casa Meranka's barns and outbuildings have been sympathetically and beautifully converted into four cottages offering guests a modern comfortable stay coupled with the original features of high ceilings and wooden beams not often found in holiday accommodation.
The gated entrance to Casa Meranka leads to the courtyard which accommodates 3 of the cottages, the 4th overlooks the gardens. All the cottages are different in size and character and are all being refurbished during the winter. From the courtyard an archway takes you to the inner gardens, which has been arranged for guests to relax and enjoy. It has loungers and garden furniture and is surrounded by stunning flowers and shrub's, steps lead to a good size swimming pool. The garden room is equipped for dining and leisure. It has a good selection of games, cards, etc and a CD player is available for use. To the side of the garden room is a BBQ.
Casa Meranka is ideal for single occupancy, families or a group looking for accommodation together. It is run by Ignacio and Sam who will be on hand to help should you require it, but promise not to infringe on your privacy. There is often an evening meal option on selected nights, breakfasts and picnic lunches can also be arranged with prior notice. Long weekend breaks are welcome for certain times of the year.
The Fig Tree is a large one bedroom cottage which can sleep upto five people. It has a large bedroom with double and single bed. Spacious lounge/diner with a large sofa which converts to a further double bed, television with DVD player, dining table and chairs, a smaller table is situated outside the cottage ideal for morning coffee!!. Figueira really is an unspoiled gateway for sightseeing and activities, all of which are within easy reach. Stunning beaches can be easily reached including several amazing surf spots. Situated next to the renowned Parque da Floresta golf & leisure resort, this is just one of the fine golf courses in the area. Being minutes from the National Park allows keen walkers to enjoy some spectacular countryside.
Excellent resorts are close by to enjoy many other activities and nights out. It is also possible to explore the West coast of Portugal, the rest of the Algrave it is even possible to visit Spain.
Figueira is appromiately 10 miles from Lagos and 10 minutes away from the new motorway links to Lisbon, the Eastern Algrave and Spain
