Originally part of Reeth's parish workhouse, erected in approximately 1753, Leeside has been extended and extensively modernised to create a comfortable, easily maintainable detached house which is all on one level. It benefits from private off street parking adjacent to the cottage, and a lovely south facing secluded garden.
The cottage is ideally located for people who wish to "get away from it all", enjoy the countryside, fine dining and relax from the moment of arrival.
As the Dales' main village and market centre, Reeth is an ideal base for touring the Dales either by foot, bike or car. It's many facilities include excellent tea rooms, pubs and restaurants offering a good choice of food from breakfast to Sunday lunches.
Tucked away at the head of a private drive, and just off the village green, the accommodation is on one level with integral garage below - providing secure storage for bikes.
Far-reaching views over Swaledale can be enjoyed from both the living room and the external balcony. The property has been decorated with soft furnishings and furniture to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible.
First floor: The entrance porch provides access to the balcony with extensive views across Swaledale. Open-plan living/dining-room offering comfortable seating around an open stone fireplace. The kitchen offers all mod cons with electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment.
The dining area provides seating for 4 people. An automatic washing machine and tumble drier are located in the integral garage below. For those warmer days and evenings a portable charcoal barbeque and garden furniture are provided for dining and relaxing in the garden. The Bathroom/W.C. includes a bath with overhead electric shower, wash basin and toilet. Wall mounted heater.
Sleeping accommodation comprises a double bedroom with double integrated wardrobe, plentiful hanging space and extensive drawer storage. A second, bunk-bedded room provides ideal sleeping accomodation for children and includes a small wardrobe with 2 drawers.
*Night storage heaters are provided along with additional electric heating for those cooler evenings together with logs for the open fire.
*A coin slot electricity meter is installed which will be fully primed prior to your arrival. Under normal conditions, over the course of a 1 week stay, this should not require topping-up however the meter can be topped up, if required, using £1 coin(s). This is housed in the garage below above the washing machine.
*A high-chair is provided for our smaller guests and a travel cot is available on request.

Terrace, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Balcony, Garden Furniture. The garden is south facing and secluded for those who enjoy peace and quiet. There is also a balcony overlooking Swaledale with small occasional table and 2 chairs.

The property is all on one level but there are 10 steps to take to the front door. The 2nd bedroom has bunkbeds and we recommend that they are suitable for children only.

There are many local attractions available on your door step, particularly for those people who wish to leave the car parked for the duration of your holiday.
Local walks are on offer straight from your door and accommodate all fitness levels from gentle walks to those more experienced walkers who enjoy a challenge!

The Forbidden Corner - Middleham nr Leyburn
Ideal for those with children or adults young or old, this is a special place for everyone. Take a picnic to enjoy a day out in the middle of the Dales. Walk through secret gardens and castles - look out for little suprises which might be lurking around the next corner. Very popular destination therefore you will need to book by telephone which is on their website.
Richmond
An historic market town, with Norman castle, Georgian architecture, cobbled market place, monuments and abbeys, the fast flowing river Swale, and breathtaking scenery. A town that inspires painters and poets, past and present.
Swaledale Folk Museum - Reeth
It is a treasure house of over 500 objects connected with life and work in the dale based in Reeth itself.
Deemed to be the largest collection in Europe and most diverse of horse drawn carriages and waggons/commercial vehicles. Housed in an ex-water powered cotton mill 3 storeys high, a grade two listed mill of local historical interest (built 1784). All vehicles in their original condition, an insight into travel 100 years ago.
Aysgarth Falls
Near the village of Aysgarth the River Ure tumbles over a series of broad limestone steps which are known as Aysgarth Falls. Although not particularly high the waterfalls are one of Wensleydale's most famous beauty spots (having been featured in the Kevin Costner film "Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves"), with a pleasant riverside walk linking the Upper, Middle and Lower Falls.
A wide range of local shops all within 20 mile radius from hand knitted jumpers produced from local wool to handmade pottery, there is something for everyone.
Barnard Castle
Barnard Castle is a historic thriving market town, which developed in the protective shadow of Bernard Balliol's castle. Built on a fine defensive site in 1125, the castle is in the care of English Heritage and is open to the public.
Whitby - Nearest coastline
Whitby's skyline is dominated by the ruins of St. Hilda's Abbey, high on Whitby's East Cliff. Spreading below Whitby, a maze of alleyways and narrow streets run down to the busy quayside. From the old town of Whitby, 199 steps lead up to the parish church of St. Mary, whose churchyard on Whitby's East Cliff gave Bram Stoker the inspiration to write his world famous book, Dracula .
Cycling in the Dales
There are great opportunities to explore the Yorkshire Dales by bike, both on its network of minor roads and for mountain bikers on the byways, bridleways and ‘green lanes’ that cross the area.
The Dales are known as one of the UK’s finest adventurous mountain biking areas. There are over 800 km (500 miles) of bridleways, byways and green lanes to explore, often taking you up into remote moorland. Tough climbs and technical descents, all in remote, unspoilt countryside
Opportunities for road cyclists range from short routes along the valley bottoms which are suitable for most families with some cycling experience to the 210 km (130 mile) Yorkshire Dales Cycle Way which will challenge even the most hardened rider.
The Burgoyne Hotel is a privately owned Country House Hotel boasting an elegant restaurant with magnificent views of Reeth green, the village, and the Harkerside Fells.
Menu changes daily and produce is locally sourced.

Upon entering Reeth from Leyburn/Richmond pass over the bridge and take the first left on the corner. After approximately 25 yards 1st right into a driveway. Leeside is at the top of the drive.

Rental Notes: The holiday cottage is mainly available from Saturday to Saturday after 3.30pm. However in some cases we can accommodate Friday to Friday. Vacation of the property is by 11.00 a.m. on day of departure.
We also take bookings for a minimum of 2 nights (Friday - Saturday), 3 nights (Friday - Sunday) and 4 nights (Monday - Thursday).
