Situated near the village of Villa Collemandina and a few kilometres from the market town of Castelnuovo this two bedroomed cottage has one of the most beautiful views of the Garfagnana area.
The local shop and two excellent restaurants are within easy walking distance.
The scenery arond the village is without doubt comparable with the best that Tuscany has to offer.

Set in a valley between the Appenine and Apuane Mountains, the Garfagnana area is well known in Italy for its spectacular scenery, medieval villages, fresh warm air and delicious food.
The cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the local area on foot, bike, train or car. There are lakes, swimming pools, nature parks, horse riding stables, cafes, bars, restaurants, local fiestas, markets and shops all within a short distance.
Although summer tends to be the most popular holiday time the area is particularly beautiful in spring and autumn with the wide variety of spring flowers and vivid colours of the chestnut forests.
Here you can combine the pleasures of country living with easy access to towns and cities.
The cottage is very well equipped and comfortably furnished. Upstairs there is a large double/family bedroom with balcony, a twin bedroom, a sitting room area with a fold down futon bed and a shower room with bidet.
Downstairs there is a large sitting room with a wood burning stove and fully equipped kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher.
The double doors from the kitchen open to the patio which has sun loungers, table, chairs and sun umbrella. The view from the patio is fantastic. Bed linen and towels are provided. Electricity, gas and logs are included.

Horse riding is 2kms. away. Fishing in the local lake and river. Unusually for Italy,there is a small golf course 4kms away.
The Oricciella National Park (6 kms.) has easy walks with quiet bars and restaurants. Many of the nearby villages, such as Corfino and Castiglione, are medieval and great to explore.
Castelnuovo has good shops, and the other nearby town, Barga, is well known for its summer festivals. There are outdoor public pools in Castelnuovo and Barga.
The wonderful provincial city of Lucca is within easy reach by train or car.
Garfagnana is famous in Italy for its fine food, cooked in a simple , rustic way using the finest local ingredients. A full lunch with wine and coffee costs 9/10 euro, and an evening main course typically costs 7-10 euro. Decent local wine costs 2 euros per litre.
