The Lost Gardens of Heligan
Heligan, seat of the Tremayne family for more than 400 years, is one of the most mysterious estates in England. Abandoned after WWI. Re-discovered in 1990 and restored by volunteers.
In a couple of short years the team transformed an exhausted clay pit into a stunning lost world reminding us of what we 'ordinary' people can do once we set our minds to it.
In the Rainforest Biome you can experience the sights, smells and sheer scale of the rainforest in the world's largest greenhouse.
In the Mediterranean Biome you can travel to South Africa and California and walk amongst orange and lemon trees, old olive groves and gnarled vines.
In the Roofless Biome - 30 acres outdoors - the crescent shaped terraces tell the story of plants that have changed the world and which could change your future.
This is a vibrant reminder of our place in nature and is a living demonstration of regeneration.
St. Austell is a bustling market town, situated at the centre of the Cornish china-clay industry. William Cookworthy discovered the clay in 1755, and with the opening of the pits to mine the clay, St. Austell's population and prosperity soon began to grow.
Kao-Lin, an essential ingredient in the manufacture of porcelain, had previously only been found in northern China. Today Cornwall still exports clay, which is also used to produce paint, paper and in some medicines.
The 15th century Holy Trinity Church is well worth a visit; unusual for Cornwall its tower is finely decorated with sculptured figures. The interior is also unusual, with a distinct bend in the axis of the church. There has been speculation as to whether this was deliberate to create a dramatic effect, or due to a building problem, it has also been suggested it was intended to symbolise the droop of Christ's head as he died on the cross.
Wheal Martyn China Clay Heritage Centre is a beautiful site with woodland walks and spectacular views. There is an Historic Trail, Nature Trail, New Exhibitions; Cornwall's largest Water Wheel and an Audio Visual Show.
Take a tour around Cornwall's oldest independent family brewery, established for over 140 years. Many original traditions and skills remain at the heart of the beers today. Follow the brewing process from row ingredients through to sampling the traditional ales.

"September 16th, 2008 - 09:41 When we drove up & turned in to "The Bothy" we were stunned at how perfect the hideaway looked. After 9 days living here & your hospitality, we are delighted. Made friends with all the cats; Timmy, Digger & especially Boy. Will miss 'em. Only guests we did not want: the spiders.
You should be proud of this place.
Lots of love.
