The cottage is stone built and gives welcome shade in the summer sun which can be enjoyed in complete privacy on the breakfast patio or in the enclosed courtyard garden. The morning patio overlooks fields and woodland giving an added fragrance to the atmosphere with pines, wild thyme and oregano growing in abundance.

The house has space enough for kitchen, dining and lounge area together without crowding. There are two bedrooms, both with twin beds. A huge old style bath, kitchen with traditional oven, washing machine and plenty of utensils for cooking.
There is an open fire for those who know the delights of Portugal in spring and autumn when the sun can be as warm as an English summer at lunch time, and cosy evenings roasting chestnuts an additional attraction.

There are several vineyards in the area which make up a wine route that offers an introduction to some excellent wines of this little known region.
The Convent do Cristo, or castle in Tomar is steeped in history, particularly relating to the Knights Templar who fought in the holy wars and initiated the exploration of the Americas.
Horse riding, donkey riding, caves and caving, water sports, festivals and plenty more besidesis available.
The house is easily accessible by car from either Lisbon (about 90 minutes) or Porto (about 2 hours) airport. Driving directions will be provided on booking.
