Le Rigal is an impressive eighteenth century farmhouse situated within 120 acres of organic pasture and woodland on the outskirts of the pretty village Cause-de-Clerans, 6km north of the Dordogne river and 25 minutes due east of Bergerac. It is located within an area of outstanding natural beauty called the 'Golden Triangle' where the density of tourist activities is one of the greatest in the Dordogne.
The Gite at Le Rigal is the former farm manager's house and is located within the spacious and private courtyard. There is a wealth of period features including exposed beams and a 18th century fireplace. Outside there is a new salt-water swimming pool, table tennis, swings, sand-pit and a trampoline with acres of space for games of frisby, badminton, football or cricket.
The Gite at Le Rigal is the former farm manager's stone house and is located within the spacious and private courtyard of the farm. The house has been restored keeping a wealth of period French charm but incorporating all the facilities required for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
The Gite can comfortably sleep 6 (or up to 8 if the sofabed is used) and has 3 en-suite bedrooms and a sofabed downstairs (with separate access to a bathroom). There is a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and washing machine, a spacious lounge with wood-burning stove and satellite television and DVD player. There is a dining area and outside you will find a walled courtyard to the front and to the rear a terrace and grassed area for BBQ's (provided) and watching the sunset.
Eco-Tourism Le Rigal estate is run organically; no chemicals are used on the pastures and re-cycling is a way of life. You will find recycling bins close to the gite where paper, card, plastic containers, boxes, bags, bottles, tins, cans and so on can be collected and recycled. A composting system is in place and most kitchen waste (apart from meat) can be composted. The compost produced is then spread onto our organic vegetable plot.
The woodburning stove in the gite is an environmentally friendly form of heating (if required!) using wood coppiced and collected from the estate. The brand new pool conforms to all the latest safety and filtration standards. The pool is a salt water pool thus avoiding chemicals that damage the skin and environment.
We have a variety of livestock, including several horses and ponies. The rest of our land is grazed by cattle and the farmer who owns them has a vineyard which produces local Bergerac wine. Guests can purchase wine directly from him if they so wish.
Guests are very welcome to try the produce grown on the land and to help join with any of our activities.

Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Iron. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes all the little items such as a garlic press and cafetiere that makes cooking and staying at Le Rigal an enjoyable experience. The kitchen has exposed beams.
General:
Central Heating, House Linen, Towels Provided. The Gite is private and is situated within the spacious courtyard of the farm. The owners are on hand should you require assistance, advice or even to purchase free range eggs or organic vegetables.
Dining:
Seating for 8. The dining room has a large 18th century traditional corbelled French fireplace. It has huge exposed beams and access to the terrace and orchard to the rear and patio to the front.
Entertainment:
Satellite TV, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games, Table Tennis. For entertaining the children there are swings, a slide, a sand-pit, acres of garden to enjoy playing frisby, cricket, football etc and a trampoline. We have a variety of animals to see and/or stroke.
Outside:
Communal Pool, Terrace, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Garden Furniture. The farm is set in 120 acres of organic pasture and woodland. There are walks straight from the door, you can borrow bikes with child seats if required. The flora and fauna are truely outstanding.

We can provide a cot or travel cot, highchair, three wheeled all-terrain buggy and a steam sterilizer if requested. The gite and pool areas are non-smoking.

Local activities in and around Lalinde, Aquitaine/Dordogne
Le Rigal is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Located within the 'Golden Triangle' there are more things to do or see in this area than anywhere else in the Dordogne. You can sample and purchase wines at the local vineyards. The Monbazillac estate is closeby and the world famous regions of Bordeaux and St Emillion are a short drive away.
From walking around the medieval Bastide towns such as Monpazier and Belves to exploring the fabulous caves and the origins of man at Les Ezyies the problem is how to fit it all in.
The Dordogne is famous for its 'thousand chateaux' many of which are a short scenic drive away. The markets are vibrant and colourful and if you are a lover of fine food you will be spoilt for choice with fresh ingredients such as foie gras or magret de canard readily available. The market at Lalinde, less than 10 minutes from the gite is one of the largest in the area. There are of course wonderful restaurants and we can make personal recommendations.
For the more adventurous, there is canoeing on the picturesque Dordogne and Vezere rivers. Some stretches are suitable for the absolute beginner and children as young as four. For the very young and young at heart, there are peddaloes, not to mention theme parks, aquariums, animal parks and farms with wild boar, ostriches, ducks and geese.
At Rigal we have a variety of animals such as Limousin cows, ponies, rabbits, hens, guinea fowl etc and the children are always welcome to help feed and stroke them. There are stables nearby for riding and the golf course is less than five minutes away at Chateau Les Merles.
For those of you who want to walk or cycle the area is criss-crossed with paths through beautiful oak and chestnut woodland. Many varieties of birds, butterflies and wildflowers can be spotted without even moving off the estate.
If you simply want to relax in the peaceful countryside or laze by the pool then the setting and the views from Le Rigal are unbeatable.
Le Rigal is located 20 minutes from Bergerac airport, near Cause-de-Clerans.
