Villa Dimitris has been lovingly designed by its Greek owners, Maro and Giorgos, as a relaxing hidden retreat. Set on an unspoilt hillside only a short distance from the tavernas, shops and superb sandy beaches in Kalives, this villa has superb views across acres of olive groves to The White Mountains, Aptera Fort, and Souda Bay.
Surrounded by olive trees and with only one neighbour Villa Dimitris offers all the peace and privacy that one could wish for. The driveway has iron gates and private parking under a bamboo covered pergola. The terraces which surround the house have areas for both sun and shade and are equipped with an ample supply of outdoor furniture and a large number of traditional clay pots with plants. The pool is surrounded by a large lawn which has sun-beds, and bamboo umbrellas. The extensive garden includes an area of flowering “hottentot fig” groundcover, banana trees, a fig tree, and a vegetable garden.

The very attractive exterior of the villa has been created by using local cream coloured stone for the lower front section of the house, whilst the rest of the villa exterior is painted cream with pretty peach detailing.
Villa Dimitris’ spacious interiors have cream floor tiles, couches and curtains, and furniture made from the same warm coloured wood as the built-in wardrobes, kitchen and bathroom cupboards, stairs, and interior doors. (The exterior doors, windows and shutters are made of white aluminium.) The stylish double beds and staircase railings have been made from wrought iron. The villa has been finished to a very high standard and includes many modern comforts such as a TV, a DVD player, a large fridge/freezer, a microwave oven, a washing machine, a BBQ, and air conditioning units in the bedrooms and living area. The a/c units also double up as heaters, and there is a fireplace for the cooler nights early and late season. There is solar powered hot water or a back-up immersion heater. The bathrooms have been beautifully tiled and there is a wonderful corner bath in the full bathroom which is big enough for two.

The Apokoronas area is just east of the beautiful, historic Venetian city of Chania and includes the beach villages of Almerida and Kalives, the traditional villages of Plaka, Vamos, Gavalohori, Kokkino Horio, and country villages such as Kefalas and Litsarda. From the myriad blues of the clear, calm, ever changing Mediterranean seas, the clean white, sandy beaches, the white Lefka Ori mountains, with the longest gorge in Europe, lush silver-green olive and orange groves, the scent of wild thyme and majestic pine trees surrounding unspoilt villages, even the occasional donkey - Crete has it all.
The approximate drive time from Chania International Airport is 25 minutes. From Heraklion, where it is possible to get cheaper flights, the transfer time is approximately 100 - 110 minutes.
