Set in the heart of rustic Andalucian countryside, surrounded by farmland and mountains this apartment sleeps 2 people. Found in a shady walled courtyard at the rear of the owners house, the accommodation comprises of a well equipped kitchen/diner, a bed/sitting room with double bed and a sofa bed and a large bathroom with a spacious walk in shower.
Just off the beaten track, Los Rubiales is a traditional Spanish farmhouse and our apartments are in a tastefully converted barn building. Surrounded by orange, almond and olive groves the passing traffic tends to be farm machinery or a herd of goats out grazing.
The owners Melanie and Barry share this lovely place with three dogs two cats and three horses. Step through an archway in the coutyard wall and find yourself in a second landcaped terrace with a shared 8.5m x 4m swimming pool and sunloungers.

Step outside your front door into a shady walled courtyard where you will find alfresco dinning facilities. It is here that we offer optional Bar b q evenings. Our prices are per apartment per week (not per person) and included is bed linen, bathroom towels and daily maid service.
This is the ideal venue for those wishing to leave behind the daily treadmill and slow down to a standstill. Peace and quiet is what we do best, however we are only a ten minute drive from the nearest town of Huercal Overa which offers many bars and restaurants and a bustling weekly market.
This place is also perfect for mountain bikers, walkers, birdwatchers, artists and of course sunseekers! If you prefer to get your tan on the beach we are only a half hour picturesque drive from San Juan de los Tererros. This venue is ideal for the independent traveller getting about in a hire car.

Local activities in and around El Saltador, Almeria
The local town of Huercal Overa is a wonderful mixture of old and new. The town has grown up around a huge church, near which are shady squares in the centre of the old town where everyone meets to pass the time of day.
Monday morning is market day when the main street is closed to traffic and a large bustling market seems to appear from nowhere with traders selling goods ranging from clothing and handbags to pottery and traditional Spanish rugs and pictures. At the same time, in the old town a second market runs where local farmers sell their fruit, vegetables, meat, cheeses and of course olives!
Siesta is still an honoured tradition in these parts and everything closes in the middle of the day for lunch and a snooze.
The town comes alive again in the evenings when all the restaurants and bars are buzzing and the locals meet in the plazas. In Summer the evening meal is taken late and at a leisurely pace when the heat of the sun has died down.
Fiestas are a big part of life here and most of the towns and villages have their own celebration during the summer/autmn time. Huercal Overas big Fiesta takes place towards the end of October.
Another annual event worth seeing is the Santa Semana celebrations during Easter week. There are three brotherhoods in Huercal Overa & each has a day for thier own event. This involves as the highlight a parade where 100 men carry an enormous alter laden with statues of Christ, candles & flowers through the streets accompanied by many people in glorious costume.
Around the 16th December each year the town hosts the annual Medieval Market, again a feast of colour, costume & activities where traders sell handmade leather, wooden & silver goods in amonst fire eaters, donkeys & musical events.
Los Rubiales is also within easy reach of the city of Lorca and for those prepared to make a long day of it, Granada is a two hour drive away.
The beach resort of San Juan is 30 minutes by car & Mojacar is a 40 min drive away.
