Completed in 2007, the apartment has a terracotta tiled floor, fitted wardrobes, a fully-fitted kitchen and two bathrooms. Satellite TV, DVD and CD player.
The apartment is situated on the ground floor of the block and it can easily be reached by means of a single step up to the walkway and then a single step into the apartment itself. The resort development of Domus Iberica is made up of a number of family villas and some three dozen apartments within beautifully landscaped grounds.
A small lane runs through the development but it carries little traffic and, as the nearest main road is more than a mile away, the resort is very peaceful. The villas and apartments share a central club area with a main pool and adjoining children’s paddling pool, bar, restaurant, gym, jacuzzi and sauna.
Burgau itself is one of the few remaining working fishing villages on this part of the coast. The western edge of the village marks the start of a huge, undeveloped national park that stretches westwards to Cape St.Vincent and then northwards towards Lisbon. So Burgau has the best of both worlds - it has the hustle and bustle of Luz and Lagos just down the road to the east, and it has the unspoilt wildness of the natural landscape to the west.

Local activities in and around Burgau, Western Algarve
Restaurants: There are a dozen restaurants within walking distance in and around Burgau, many more in Luz and Lagos.
The beach at the bottom of the village is a family-friendly, sandy beach. A ten-minute stroll brings you there from the apartment; note that the last part of the walk is down a steep lane through the village. Some parking is available by the beach should you choose to drive. The coast of the Algarve generally runs east-west and is sculpted into bays and coves. This shelters the beaches in this area. But less than 20 miles drive to the west is Cape St.Vincent and beyond that - where the coast turns abruptly north-south - you’ll find the surfers’ beaches with their fabulous sand & spiky sea-honed rocks.
Back from the coast lie the Monchique mountains with their spas, their wine and their huge panoramic views. For sun-lovers, the beaches along this part of the coast will prove irresistible, with their gorgeous sand and their blue-green water. For nature-lovers, a dolphin watching trip from Lagos is good value.
Further to the east, from the banks of the river in Portimao, a small Viking-style boat will take you up the river to the ancient town of Silves, with its fort and churches. For children (and adults too), the Zoomarine water park can be found next to the EN125 at Guia near Albufeira. More than just a theme park, this is a marine education experience not to be missed.
The area offers golf, horse riding and many other sports. Burgau itself has a multi-sport complex, with tennis, squash and other facilities. The resort’s own pool/bar/gym complex is there for those who want to chill out and not move too far!
Portugal has a proud culture of fishing, and an early trip into Lagos to watch the boats land their catches is worthwhile. Equally good is a visit to the riverside Mercado Municipal to see the fish being sold from white-tiled counters on the ground floor, & you’ll find local fruit & vegetables on the first floor.
Burgau is easily reached from Faro airport by following the A22 motorway to the west. Exit at junction 1, take the EN125 for ten minutes west from the Lagos area and watch for signs to Burgau.
