House with 5 Bedrooms, Sleeps 12, Garden, Swimming Pool
“La Grancho” – perfect for a relaxing holiday – set in 7 acres of grounds. The house has been completely renovated, retaining exposed stonework and original timbers wherever possible. Its slightly elevated position offers lovely views of the surrounding countryside and the tiny rural hamlet of Estanels below.
Estanels is about 1 km from the nearest village of Lherm and approximately 25 kms North West of Cahors. The countryside is a haven for wildlife, birds and butterflies. Deer can often be seen grazing in the fields close to the house. In spring and early summer these fields are carpeted in wild flowers including many species of orchids. The area is totally unspoilt and uncommercialised. There is very little traffic, even in the height of the summer. The network of quiet country lanes is ideal for walking or cycling.
La Grancho is a substantial house, decorated, furnished and equipped to the highest standards to provide comfortable accommodation for up to 12 people. The main entrance is reached from a covered south facing veranda leading through to a large hallway. The spacious lounge has comfortable seating, TV, video recorder, DVD, radio/cassette/CD player together with a small library of books. The large separate dining room seats up to 12 people around a huge farmhouse table. The kitchen is fitted with modern appliances and cupboards. Thick stone walls and tiled floors keep the interior cool during the hot summers. Generous room sizes add to the overall impression of light and space.
An open plan wooden staircase leads to the first floor. There are five bedrooms (two with double beds and en suite shower rooms, two each with two single beds and a fifth, family room with 2 single beds plus bunk beds). Two cots, a highchair and stair gate are also available. There are four bath/shower rooms and five toilets in total. All bedrooms have hanging and storage space, are carpeted and have curtains. The bath/shower rooms have tiled floors and modern sanitary fittings and plumbing. All have shaver/power points and mirrors.
There is a private, floodlit swimming pool (10m x 5m with roman steps). The purification/filtration system uses salt instead of chlorine so will not sting eyes or cause skin irritation. There are paved areas for sunbathing around the pool, shady areas for relaxing, a barbecue, terraces for outside eating, table tennis area and private parking for several cars.
