“Le Fournil” is a former bakehouse, which supplied bread to the local inhabitants. The breadoven still retains its vaulted roof covered in lauzes (flat stones), which typifies the architecture of the Quercy region. It has been tastefully renovated, retaining the charm of the original exposed timbers and stonework to provide comfortable accommodation for two people.
The cottage, which is totally independent, is set within the grounds of the owners’ property (30 acres of fields and woodland). From its slightly elevated position, it overlooks the tiny hamlet of Estanels, open fields, wooded hillsides and lovely valley beyond.
Situated in the area of “La Bouriane” an undulating land of pine, oak and chestnut forests, walnut groves and wild mushrooms. Its unspoilt rural setting, between the valleys of the Lot and Dordogne Rivers, offers the possibility of total peace and relaxation.
Le Fournil provides ideal all year round accommodation for two people. The thick stone walls keep the interior cool in the hot summers while modern insulation and an old fashioned wood burning stove ensure cosy winter evenings. There is a perfect mix of old and new - beams and stone combined with all modern fittings.
On the ground floor the entrance hall has a spacious built in cupboard with hanging space and shelving. Off the hall is a shower room with shower cubicle, vanity unit and WC. Stone steps lead up to a lounge/dining room with well equipped corner kitchen (gas cooker, refrigerator, washing machine, ironing board and iron, coffee machine, kettle, teapot, plus ample pots, pans, crockery etc.) Dining table and chairs and two armchairs.
The comfortable lounge area has a wood burning stove for which logs are supplied free of charge. The original stone arch of the bread oven remains. There is a radio/cassette/CD player and a small selection of books. An open plan wooden staircase leads to the first floor bedroom which has a double bed and storage space.
Outside there is a south facing terrace with fine views, table and chairs, sun loungers, parasol and barbecue. There is a private driveway with parking and a garden area with fields beyond.

“Le Fournil” is available throughout the year.
