Thoughtfully designed and extremely comfortable, this house is one of only 5 exclusive properties on the site. They all benefit from being not overlooked - having beautiful colourful gardens among 100 olive trees and literally acres of outside space to explore.
The villa sleeps 4 - 6 people in 3 double or twin bedrooms. Each bedroom has a private balcony with breathtaking views over open countryside or sea views. The house is suitable for wheelchair users. There are only a couple of steps to negotiate from the road up to the house. Downstairs double bedroom with shower room and W/C next to it.

Privacy! A quiet haven outside the village, yet close enough to easily enjoy its attractions. 3 large double/twin bedrooms. Private Swimming Pool has a very large outdoor terrace space with spectacular open views to the snow-tipped White Mountains (Lefki Ori). All bedrooms and living room with aircon, included in rental price. Own brick built barbeque (large enough for a big party!). UK-style plumbing (no small-bore WC pipes!).
This house is larger than many others you will have seen for rent. Extra children can be accommodated in some bedrooms using the very sturdy and fully adjustable sun-loungers which are very comfortable, even for adults to sleep on. (The villa owner has personal experience and can vouch for their comfort!)
This Villa is ideal if you value your privacy while wishing to remain conveniently close to village life and amenities. Just a few minutes away by car is Almirida Bay for safe, sandy beaches, windsurfing, pedaloes, shops, many restaurants and bars. The traditional village of Gavalochori is just 7 minutes walk, where you will find 3 restaurants and 2 minimarkets.
A special feature of the house is a very large tiled terrace/patio with private swimming pool surrounded by olive, carob and palm trees. Double patio doors connect the spacious outside areas to the light and airy open-plan kitchen. ‘Al-fresco’ meals are easy because there are no stairs to negotiate from the kitchen. The living room area has access to a downstairs WC/shower room, conveniently next to the first double bedroom. This may be suitable for guests with restricted mobility.
Upstairs are 2 further bedrooms (one double and two twin rooms). All have private balconies that offer uninterrupted views of the spectacular White Mountains which remain snow-capped until early summer. The second (family) bathroom is at the top of the stairs.

Wheelchair friendly! There is a ground floor shower room and WC plus downstairs bedroom next to it. Only a couple of steps up to the house and sun terrace is easily accessible via sliding doors.
Local activities in and around Almirida, Crete
Located in a quiet olive grove, it is only a few minutes drive from the beach at Almirida, on the Apokoronas Peninsular in North West Crete (30 minute drive from Chania Airport). Also nearby, less than 10 minutes walk away, is the 1000-year old Greek village of Gavalochori with tavernas, shops plus interesting attactions such as the ancient Roman Wells.
The road to Almyrida has only light traffic during the day and occasional vehicles at night, yet you are never far from civilisation and the bustling cafe culture and nightlife of nearby villages. The large bay that makes up the seaside resorts of Almirida and Kalives has many separate, safe, sandy beaches, usually with full facilities. Almirida, is a thriving seaside village with a windsurfing school and tavernas and bars lining the sea front. There are a couple of mini-markets, a bakery, patisserie, a wine shop and newsagents. Mountain bikes can be hired and there is also a small taxi rank. There is a bus service to Kalives and Chania.
Kalives is a working town as well as being a tourist destination. So in addition to the beaches, tavernas, bars and tourist shops there are local shops plus a good-sized supermarket. Banking, post office and petrol station are available. Chania is a cosmopolitan city voted the most beautiful on Crete. With the White Mountains as a backdrop, its Venetian harbour, museums, fascinating indoor market and an old quarter of narrow streets packed with interesting shops, Chania offers something for most visitors.
It is a vibrant place steeped in Byzantine, Venetian and Turkish history. The harbour area is a great place to sit and watch the world go by at one of the sea-front tavernas.
Charter Flight time 4 hours from UK airports to Chania (1/2 hour drive) or Heraklion (2 hour drive). We can also advise on reliable local car hire at reasonable cost with good English-speaking staff.
