The village of Foussais-Payre has a bar/auberge, bakery, butcher, newsagent/tobacconist, pharmacy, post office and two small grocers. Every Wednesday there is a market, and the baker’s van comes to the house three times a week selling bread, croissants etc.

The cottage has 3 bedrooms (1 on ground floor), 2 bathrooms, lounge, kitchen-diner, while the apartment has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, lounge, kitchen-diner. Both are spacious, extremely comfortable, well-equipped and highly recommended by previous guests! As the gardens are extensive, each group of guests have a private area equipped with table, chairs, BBQ. The pool and terrace are for everyone’s enjoyment, as are the swings and slide, and table-tennis!
Equipped with TV, full size gas cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils etc.
All bedding is supplied (quilts, covers, sheets and pillows and cases) as are tea towels, but please bring your own bath/beach towels. Furthermore all guests have the use of the remainder of the gardens, table-tennis table, washing machine, and, of course, the pool and terrace.

Also, the more traditional “Puy du Fou” chateau is only 45 km to the North - this is a wonderful day out for all ages. During the day, visit all parts of the chateau and enjoy the live performances; then as night falls be sure to stay for the famous “spectacle” portraying Vendée history - a truly amazing performance (further details on request)
The quaint, but rather chic port of La Rochelle is but 60km away, and boasts some fabulous restaurants on the quayside, overlooking the old harbour.
From Channel ports/airports head for town of Fontenay-le-Comte (junction 8/A83 motorway). Leave A83 here, head for Parthenay/Foussais Payré. Then D49 to Foussais-Payré.

Guests must vacate premises by 10 a.m. and new guests to arrive no earlier than 4 p.m. This allows us to maintain high standards of cleanliness in the cottage.
