Cortijo Sophia is a beautiful 100 year old restored cortijo (farmhouse). It is light and airy set in a pristine valley surrounded by olive groves and oak trees. Cortijo Sophia enjoys tranquillity and uninterupted views over mountains and olive groves, making it the perfect rural Andalucian getaway. Cortijo Sophia is situated in a privately owned olive farm and is just 5km from the beautiful white village of Montefrio, voted the prettiest village in the western reaches of Granada Province enjoying an impressive setting at the foot of the Sierra de la Parapanda. It's white-washed houses with their tiled roofs sit gracefully on two hills which appear like small islands amid a sea of olive groves. Whilst Cortijo Sophia is completely secluded, the owners (Steve & Katrina) occupy the nearby farmhouse Villa Louisa and are always on hand if needed. Guests receive a welcome pack on arrival consisting of fruit juice, fruit, water and a bottle of wine to help you unwind after your journey.

The house consists of 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Bedroom 1 has a king size bed. Double doors opening on to a private terrace. Beautiful views over mountains and olive groves. Bedroom 2 is a twin bedded room with views over olive groves. Bedroom 3 has a double bed with stunning views over mountains and olive groves. All bedroooms are furnished with fresh white bed linen. The open plan lounge and dining area includes 2 sofas, coffee table, dining table, TV and DVD. Double doors lead on to the front which has stunning views of the valley leading down to Montefrio.
All bath towels and linen are included for the comfort of your stay.
All windows and bedrooms have mosquito netting and shutters. A travel cot and high chair can be provided on request. Basic food such as bread, milk, tea and coffee is also provided. If you anticipate a late arrival we are happy to shop for you on request as local shops and supermarkets are closed on Sundays. Please provide your list of requirements one week before your arrival.
Granada airport is just 40 mins away and Malaga airport and the coast is 1 hour 30 mins away.

Local activities in and around Montefrio, Granada/Costa Tropical
The surrounding area offers a multitude of walks and cycle tracks. (3 bikes area available for guests). There are also some highly recommended historic sites, for example, a prehistoric excavated village, the ancient dolmens (burial ground) and many places of historical interest in Montefrio. The local English speaking tourist office has lots of helpful information for you. Montefrio has a variety of shops, supermarkets and banks with cash points for your convenience. There are also many friendly restaurants and tapas bars. The local people are extremely warm and friendly offering you a chance to brush up on your Spanish language skills.
The city of Granada, home to the world famous Alhambra is about 40 mins drive away and offers a feast of culture and beautiful architecture as well as a vibrant nightlife. The Sierra Nevada mountains are 20 mins from Granada and offer lots of outdoor activities (see www.sierranevadaactiva.com) for information and bookings. Also nearby is the nature reserve of El Torcal Park. Lake Iznajar is about 30 mins drive and has a popular beach for swimmers and water sports.
