Bohinj chalet is located in the heart of the Triglav National Park close to the shores of Lake Bohinj and 500 m from the Vogel ski centre. Nestled in the village of Ukanc on the western edge of Lake Bohinj, Bohinj Chalet is overlooked by the dramatic mountain backdrop of the Julian Alps. Bohinj chalet is surrounded by stunning scenery in the tranquility of a National Park and is perfect for an alpine holiday. Fully central heated it also offers the traditional Slovenian log burner to make those winter evenings in the mountains extra cosy. It has two double bedrooms downstairs (sleeping 4) and one large bedroom upstairs (which also sleeps 4). There is a bathroom with a shower downstairs with an additional WC upstairs. The interior is furnished with scenic oil paintings from local artists. Other comforts include satellite television, video/DVD, a selection of English language DVDs and a stereo and ipod speakers. The traditional alpine interior of Bohinj Chalet makes it easy to relax and forget the stress of everyday life. In summer or winter the scenery is always breathtakingly fantastic making it easy to recharge you batteries.
All linens and towls included. It is ideal for families. Skis can be stored in the closed porch entrance, and in the summer months a BBQ grill offers alfresco dining in Triglav National Park. There is also a storage area for bikes (please contact us beforehand if usage is desired).
Although in the secluded surroundings of Triglav National Park, the property is easily accessible with Ljubljana International airport 60 km away and provides the following UK services: Gatwick (Adria Airways), Stansted (Easyjet) and Luton (Wizzair). Klagenfurt airport (in southern Austria) is 110 km away and is serviced by Ryanair from the UK. Additional services are avilable from Trieste (Italy) 170 km away. Airport pick ups and drop downs can be arranged for guests if requested beforehand.T he journey from all these airports is easy and takes you through some spectacular scenery passing beautiful and romatic Lake Bled, and the impressive Julian Alps peaks as you reach Bohinj.

Local activities in and around Stara Fuzina, Gorenjska
Lake Bohinj (4.5 km long) is a dramatic glacial lake within Triglav National Park. Ukanc is a small village on the westernmost southern shore and is five minutes drive from the entrance to the lake at Ribcez Laz. Five minutes walk from Bohinj Chalet is the Zlatorog, which offers a restaurant and a traditional alpine bar.
The location is ideal for those interested in outdoor winter (skiing) and summer activities (horse riding, walking, fishing, kayaking, adventure sports) and wish to explore the Julian Alps in a peaceful scenic setting. These can be arranged locally.
For skiing, the chalet is 500m distance from the Vogel Ski Centre above Ukanc, and is accessible by cable car. Vogel offers 26 km of ski slopes and cross-country runs. With runs up to 1800 m altitude, the season can last until early May.
The area offers an excellent range of walks to suit all abilities following Bohinj forest trails or for the more strenuous into the Julian Alps and Triglav. A walk around Lake Bohinj is recommended and should take between 3 and 4 hours. The chalet is also an ideal location for those who wish to explore Bled and the surrounding area (e.g. Vintgar gorge or Pokljuka) but to remain in a peaceful unspoilt setting. There is a bus station at Ukanc with hourly buses to Bled and Ljubljana via Bohinjska Bistrica.
Every year on the second Sunday in September, Ukanc hosts the Bohinj Cow’s Ball (Kravji Bal). Traditionally it marks the return of the cows to the valley after spending the summer on high pasture and offers the visitor an insight in Slovenian folk music and dancing and typical local cuisine. Bonfire Night (Kresna Noc) is celebrated on the Sunday closest to the Feast of the Assumption on the 15th August. Candlelit boats are launched into Lake Bohinj from which there is a firework display late into the summer night. New Year offers a further firework spectacle for the visitor.
Ukanc is 26 km north east of Bled and 5 km west of the village Ribcez Laz along the Bohinj lake side road towards the Vodel Ski Centre. Bohinjska Bistrica is 10 km away.
