The Smokehouse is a beautiful one bedroom stone built Cottage in the idyllic rural Village of Kayakoy in South West Turkey. The area is referred to as "The Turquoise Coast" and the Kaya Cottages are just 10 minutes drive to the sea through unspoilt rural land and pine forest. Kaya is an idyllic rural village that has remained unaffected by mass tourism, perfect for those who want to explore hidden Turkey.
Kaya is one of the rare places where you will truly find the unspoilt side of Turkey and experience real Turkish culture and Village life. It is the perfect place to relax or to explore.
Visit the ruins of a Greek town dating back to Lycian and Roman times, find a hidden Monastery overlooking the Mediterranean, sample Turkish Wine, Cuisine and Hospitality at nearby family owned restaurants or swim and chat with Turkish locals at Gemiler Beach.
The Kaya Cottages are two unique, authentic Turkish Farm Cottages. "The Smokehouse" and "The Stables" have been carefully restored and recieved an award from the Turkish Ministry of Culture for "Sympathetic Restoration of Turkish Heritage". Both are unique in style and beautifully decorated
The beautifully tiled raised pool area overlooks the picturesque Kaya Valley and surrounding mountains and forest. The property is surrounded by rustic stone walls that provide privacy but as the property is build upon a small hill, the views over the valley are fanstastic.
“The Smokehouse” The Smokehouse is a large one bedroom stone built cottage with tiled floors throughout, whitewashed walls and wooden beamed ceilings.
As you enter the Smokehouse you pass through the quaint fully equipped Cottage style kitchen area.
You then enter a spacious living room with large open Turkish style fireplace, and two single divan beds. CD player, games and a large collection of books for guests use.
The modern bathroom has decorative blue tiling, basin, shower over bath, hot water all year round.
The bedroom has air-conditioning unit and ceiling fan, large wooden built in cupboards and double doors opening onto a private terrace.
Off the outside verandah area is an outside shower room with a second toilet.
The Smokehouse Cottage sleeps up to four people in comfort.
The Cottage is cleaned thoroughly mid-week and all linen changed. Washing sevice is provided for a small fee. Kaya Village itself (25 mins walk or 5 mins by local bus)has several mini-markets, an open fruit and vegetable market and a good choice of restaurants ranging from small family run operations to more upmarket boutique wine house restaurants.
There are small restaurants and a market within 5 minutes walk of the property.

Local activities in and around Fethiye, Turquoise Coast/Lycia
Kaya Village is located around the ruins of an old Greek settlement. The town was abaondoned and left to ruin after a forced population exchange between Greece and Turkey in the 1920's. Exploring the site is a wonderful experience and the site itself dates back to pre Roman times.
Kaya Village itself (25 mins walk or 5 mins by local bus)has several mini-markets, an open fruit and vegetable market and a good choice of restaurants ranging from small family run operations to more upmarket boutique wine house restaurants.

Dalaman Airport is an easy drive following one main road so guests may consider car hire as a good option to make the most of the fascinating area.

Rental Notes: Linen is changed twice weekly and light cleaning daily. The owner will visit the property every morning so check if guests require anything to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
Fresh Village produce such as bread, eggs, yoghurt and vegetables can be purchased from the Villagers and can be arranged for you during your stay.
The Village is served by a local minibus system. Buses depart every hour to Fethiye Town, OluDeniz Beach and other places of interest. Prices start from 3 - 6 lira per trip. Buses are reliable and will stop at the side of the road to collect customers.
Car Hire can easily be arranged and charged at a weekly or daily price - from 22GBP per day. A hire car waiting at the airport for guests can be included in the rental price so guests can drive to the Cottages themselves. Alternatively, a car hire can be arranged easily during your stay, with a car delivered at short notice.
