Fuengirola, some 2 miles away, provides several miles of safe, sandy beaches, a wonderful zoo, an excellent waterpark, numerous shops and restaurants catering for all tastes. Nearby Benalmadena has Tivoli World and a humming nightlife, and next door Torremolinos has another waterpark and the terrific entertainment at its famous Magic Place.
Within a two hour drive there are said to be 50 golf courses, Gibraltar with its English shops and duty-free status, Granada with its Alhambra Palace, Ronda with its famous viaduct, and for the more energetic, winter sports can be enjoyed on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada.
Puerto Banus, playground of the rich and famous, with its fabulous marina, new shopping mall, restaurants and nightspots, is only half an hour away. The old Mijas village and the modern Mijas Horse Racing Course are also only a short distance away.
