Stewkley is an historic village on the edge of the Vale of Aylesbury. A number of interesting buildings line the High Street and at the centre of the village is the fine Norman church. Stewkley is a village community and various local organisations offer many activities. The village has a tea room and delicatessen, two pubs which also serve meals, hairdresser, library, church, Methodist chapel, village hall and recreation ground.
There are many footpaths in the surrounding countryside for those who enjoy a quiet ramble. Within a ten to twenty minute drive are the local towns of Leighton Buzzard and Aylesbury and the new city of Milton Keynes. They offer a wide range of shops and leisure activities and have railway and coach stations. Dormer Cottage is an ideal base for those wishing to visit places of interest in the Home Counties.
Oxford and Cambridge are an hour's drive away and London can be reached in under an hour by train from Leighton Buzzard. Woburn Abbey, Waddesdon Manor, Blenheim Palace, Windsor Castle and many smaller historic houses, gardens and National Trust properties are within easy travelling distance, as are Whipsnade Zoo, the Chilterns and the Cotswolds.
