Unique apartment in 18th century palazzo recently restored to high standard. Opens onto its own patio garden furnished with table and chairs. Larger garden with orchard and olive trees and private pool very close. Lake Trasimeno, with its sandy beaches, water sports and romantic islands reached by frequent ferries is five miles away.
The lively, historic town of Castiglione del Lago, sited dramatically on a rocky peninsular, is our nearest town. Its bars, restaurants and shops both in the town and by the lakeside, are relaxing and inexpensive. Located at the edge of a peaceful village, the Garden Apartment is 15 minutes from Italy's excellent motorway system and a mainline railway station.
The Garden Apartment is on the ground floor of a restored palazzo, a unique historic building, not part of a holiday complex. Double doors open onto a spacious, airy living room/kitchen.
An arched doorway leads to a double bedroom. An archway opens onto a single bedroom and full bathroom. The living room is comfortably furnished with a double bed settee, settee and two easy chairs. There is also a single bed, enabling up to three people to sleep in this room.
There are a table and chairs for up to six to eat indoors. The kitchen area features a hob and oven, washing machine and fridge/freezer. The kitchen is well equipped with toaster, kettle, pots and pans, cultery, plates and glasses and even an iron and ironing board.
The double bedroom has a comfortable double bed, chest of drawers and wardrobe. There is a small room with single bed and a large bathroom, with bath and shower over, basin and toilet. The living room opens onto a paved patio furnished with table and chairs for outdoor eating and relaxing.
From the patio a two minute walk takes you to a huge private garden with fig, plum, apple, pear and nut trees, an olive grove and a swimming pool, for the exlusive use of guests of the garden apartment. The pool is an above ground pool, set into the hillside, with filtered, chlorinated water. It is surrounded by shady fruit and olive trees where guests can relax on our comfortable sun loungers.

This ground floor apartment has a few steps between rooms, so it is unsuitable for wheelchair users. It is ideal for people who can manage a few steps
Local activities in and around Castiglione Del Lago, Umbria
Lake Trasimeno, five miles away, is Italy's fourth biggest lake. You can enjoy swimming in the lake's warm, safe waters, boating, fishing and water sports. You can take ferry trips to the lake's beautiful islands.
Umbria and Tuscany have many sensational hill towns, containing historical and artistic treasures. Examples within 40 minutes drive include Panicale, Arezzo, Perugia. Siena, famous for its Palio horse races and beautiful central square, is less than an hour's drive away. Florence, home of Michelangelo's David, is just a little further.
Florence is home to the world famous Uffizi galleries and also to the most amazing fashion stores and markets where bargains in leather goods can be found. The food market is well worth a visit for its choice of Parmesan cheeses.
Both Florence and Rome are great to visit by train from the nearby station at Castiglione del Lago. The train goes straight to the city centre and there's no need to worry about parking.
Rome is less than two hour's drive or train trip, Florence, Siena, Assisi and Perugia are all closer, giving access to Italy's greatest art treasures and excellent shopping for clothes, shoes, leather goods and gourmet food, including the world's finest olive oil, pasta and wine.
Italian food lovers will enjoy sampling the food stores and restaurants around Casamaggiore. The menus are great for vegetarians and there is also a fine choice of fish and meats. Umbria's olive oil is fine and delicate and well worth taking home with you.
