Casa do Pinheiro is situated in the small hamlet of Pinheiro, on the Ria Formosa nature reserve. The water’s edge is just five minutes walk away – a shore dotted with small boats and rich with bird life. A further ten minutes brings you to the local restaurant – hugely popular with Portuguese and foreign locals – and specialising in sea food. It is a forgotten little back water which tourism, so far, has not touched. Its slow, peaceful rhythm, fresh sea breezes and wide-open spaces make it a wonderful getaway any time of the year.

Casa do Pinheiro has been renovated with holidays in mind and has a very fresh feel inside the house, which is kept cool in summers with tiled floors and shuttered windows.

The house is very well equipped throughout. The kitchen has everything you will need for self-catering, including: hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle. The Lounge and dining area seats up to eight and looks out through windows onto the garden and the vine yard opposite. The lounge is equipped with satellite television and DVD. Outside, the house has its own driveway and parking for several cars, gardens, roof terrace and private pool. At the front of the house there is a lovely garden, the roof terrace has views over the whole area and specifically over the vine yard opposite – at it’s best at sun set. The back of the house the garden is laid to lawn and has it’s own private pool, it is equipped with a table and benches under a shaded area for dining and a barbeque with sink, for those evenings in. The nearest shops are at Luz de Tavira, 1.5 km away. There is a small daily fruit, veg and fish market, a good butcher's, a grocer's and a small supermarket. Larger supermarkets are at Moncarapacho (10 minutes drive away) and Tavira (15 minutes drive away). There is a great local restaurant specializing in sea food less than fifeteen minutes walk away. Its incredibly popular with the Portuguese and with foreigners living locally, but is unknown to tourists. It serves good food at very reasonable prices. The nearest beaches are at Fuzeta (ten minute drive), Barril (five minute drive), and St.Luzia (ten minute drive). There are no organised activities near-by. However, with the lagoon and salt-marshes on your doorstep, its a great place for bird watching. Artists may also find fruitful motifs in the boats and people working along the shore, the local houses, and the landscape of the Ria Formosa. The area is mainly flat and is traversed by many dirt roads, making it suitable for walkers, runners and cyclists.
